Here at Natural Living Ideas, we’ve recently been on a bit of a water kick. In fact, the advice to “drink more water” seems to find it’s way into just about every list of ways to improve your health. Of course, there’s a very good reason for it. Water is the ‘magic diet supplement’ to cure all ills – or at least to help cure them all. Sadly, most people don’t drink enough of it and usually it’s because of the taste (or lack there of).
Recently, while exploring ways to make water more exciting, we discovered a nifty little gadget called the Aqua Zinger. Half juicer and half water bottle, the Zinger was made with one purpose in mind: to flavor your drinking water using fresh fruit and herbs without filling your mouth with pulp and seeds.
The following are 6 of my favorite recipes that I’ve experimented with and enjoyed since adopting my new Zinger. Enjoy!
Kiwi Strawberry Fizz
It helps if your berries are very ripe for this one. Chop them small, fill up the fruit compartment, close then and add fizzy water. Make sure the fruit compartment and lid are secured tightly then turn the bottle upside down a few times. (Don’t shake it too hard. It will spray out the top when you open the straw.) Each time you finish the water, add more and let it sit for a while to get more berry-kiwi goodness.
I also enjoy this one with a sprinkle of Stevia or Monk Fruit added to the mix when I’m craving something sweet. You can also add fresh mint to give this combo a little extra zip!
Cranberry Citrus Cocktail
Add slices of any combination of orange, grapefruit, lemon and lime (whatever citrus fruits you may have lying around) to the fruit compartment. Add a splash of 100% unsweetened cranberry juice then fill with soda water or plain filtered water. This combination is very refreshing and energizing. The cranberry juice is great for flushing out your urinary tract and the citrus fruits are excellent for a quick boost to your metabolism.
I prefer this one unsweetened. However, it is very sour and you may need to sweeten it up a smidgen to make it palatable.
Cucumber Double-Melon
Ripe honeydew and cantaloupe make a perfect compliment to cucumber slices. A classic flavor combination that can’t go wrong! (Unless you dislike cucumbers and melons, that is…) Just add cold filtered water or fizzy water, let it sit for a few minutes to allow the fruit to steep, then sip and enjoy!
Cucumber, Lime & Mint
Mix a little fresh mint and lime with your cucumber slices for a cool, refreshing treat that’s just like being at the spa! You can also add a little extra mint and a sprinkling of natural sweetener like Stevia or Monk Fruit to make this concoction taste like liquid candy.
Pineapple, Orange & Mango
If you’ve ever tried one of those sugary tropical juice drinks they sell at most grocery stores, then you probably already know how good these three fruits taste together. But who really wants to drink all of that added sugar? If you like them, you can also add a slice or two of banana to the mix. Pour in the water and add a natural sweetener of your choice for a truly sweet fruity treat!
Remember To Save Your Fruit!
One of the best things about using this handy little gadget is that when you’re finished, all of the fruit is still packed up nice and neat in the bottom of the container. Take a fork to it and enjoy a sweet snack. Scoop it into a jar of water and leave it in the refrigerator overnight to create even more infused water. Or you can even pop the mashed fruit into ice cube trays and freeze it to make colorful fruity ice cubes that not only make water taste better as they melt, but also look really pretty too!

The Nigerian Senate says it will probe the disbursement of over $420 million donated to Nigeria by international aid donors and organizations to stem the Polio virus.
This was revealed by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Primary Health Care and Communicable Diseases, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, at an event to mark this year’s World Polio Day.
“We want to reassure all donors
and partners of our resolve to ensure donor funds are also well spent and that they reach the masses that need them”, he said.
“We cannot continue to be disgraced as a nation through mismanagement of donor funds and must work hard to gain or regain the trust of all donors, bilateral and multilateral partners”, he added.
The Senator also pointed out that there was no Polio case in Nigeria between July 24, 2014 to August, 2016. But by August 10, 2016, there was two cases “in Jere and Gwoza LGAs of Borno State, where insurgency made it impossible to reach children with Life-saving immunization and other important health care services”.

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has, Monday, said that he was never elected as Nigeria’s president to spread poverty but to generate and spread wealth.
Jonathan who spoke at the Oxford Union, with the theme ‘Fostering Youth Entrepreneurship, and succeeding US Secretary of State who spoke at the same event in May this year, said that only being entrepreneurial can completely cure poverty and not having a job or working for someone.
“I once said that I was not elected President of Nigeria to spread poverty; I was elected to generate and spread wealth.” “My belief in this regard is that getting a job or being a worker cannot completely cure the disease of poverty. It is only your own business that can provide such security and give you the financial freedom you need to prosper.” Dr. Jonathan, whose speech was streamed live, rhetorically queried his audience asking why some nations are rich and others remain poor. Former President Jonathan giving his speech at Oxford ”Why are some nations rich and some poor? Why do individuals that grow up in similar circumstances end up differently, with some as successes and others as failures?” “Is the wealth of nations a result of geography, weather, culture, destiny, etc.? What could a leader do to effectively lift a people out of the depths of poverty and enable them to achieve prosperity?” asked Jonathan. The former Nigerian leader talked about youth entrepreneurship programs his administration pioneered, saying that one of them, YouWIN, was a major plank of his job creation efforts. “The motivation for this program is for young people to go into SMEs, create jobs for other young people with the expectation that some would grow to large scale businesses” Dr. Jonathan said. He concluded his speech by giving a short brief of his achievements in the economic sphere, saying, “Under my watch, Nigeria was projected by CNN Money to be the third fastest growing economy in the world for the year 2015 and rated as the largest economy in Africa and the 23rd largest in the world by the World Bank and the IMF, with a GDP above half a Trillion US dollars.” Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan with some students at Oxford The speech was streamed live via Dr. Jonathan’s Facebook page and will be hosted on the Oxford Union’s site. Previous speakers at the Oxford Union include the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, author of 48 laws of power, Robert Greene, the Dalai Lama, former British prime ministers Winston Churchill, Edward Heath, Margaret Thatcher and John Major. Others were Mother Teresa and former US presidents Richard Nixon (November 1978), Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton.

Newton Samson, a Lagos based lawyer, shared the story of some kids in is neighborhood in Fadeyi, Lagos. How the role models for these kids are “agberos” (loosely translated to mean a commercial bus drivers or conductors but beyond that they are mostly uneducated and are at the bottom of the social ladder). And how these kids have a come together to make their dreams come true.
In his words:
Ok peeps gather around. I want to share a story with you guys. I want to share the story of Quadri and his quest for a better life.
— Kowope Esq. (@Newton_Samson) October 1, 2016
So I came to Fadeyi two years back. And I was assaulted by the "Streetness" of the area. The most respected guys here are agberos.
— Kowope Esq. (@Newton_Samson) October 1, 2016
We call them "alagbaras" they are "successful" in their own way and I realised that many of the young boys in this street looked up to them.
— Kowope Esq. (@Newton_Samson) October 1, 2016
So I made up my mind to do something about the young chaps. To show them that there's a way much more different much more better.
— Kowope Esq. (@Newton_Samson) October 1, 2016
So I started by befriending Quadri. He's a fourteen year old Jss3 boy nice and sharp but easily influenced by the environment he's in.

The National Judicial Council, NJC, deems it illegal for judges or
other court staff to accept gifts from
other arms of government.
This is part of the provisions in a new National Judicial Policy, NJP, initiated the the NJC, Vanguard reports.
This policy is to stem corruption and other unethical practices in the judiciary. And it comes at a time when judges were arrested and their homes raided over allegations of corruption.
The existing Code of Conduct for judicial officers reads: “a judge and members of his/her family shall neither ask for nor accept any gift, bequest, favour, or loan on account of anything done or omitted to be done by him in the discharge of his duties.”
The new policy on the other hand “particularly bars judges and other court staff from accepting gifts from other arms of government, and made compliance mandatory.”
Section 2(3)(2) of the new policy reads:
“The Code of Conduct for Judicial Officers and Code of Conduct for Court Employees, with the amendment discouraging acceptance of gifts from other arms of government, should be such as would be adequate. Compliance with their provisions shall be mandatory.”

Heard of any Fela comparison?
Sure you must have seen a bit of Fela in a number of artistes. His influence transcends art.
But what comes to mind when you hear a Fela comparison? Do you think, “This person must be political”, “controversial” or “a genius”? Because Fela is this and more. Or you think Fela shouldn’t be compared to mere mortals.
Burnaboy falls in the later class.
In a interview with Noisey, Burnaboy (Burna has a lot of Fela in him) was asked to make a pick between Fela, Wizkid or Beenieman. Yikes they shouldn’t have. His response was Fela-esque.
“What kind of stupid question is that?”, Burna asks with a smile.
“It’s even disrespectful to answer.” he adds.
“Never ask that question again to anybody. When you say Fela Kuti, just talk about Fela. Don’t explain how water entered the coconut. Just leave it the way it is,” he says.
He said all this, laying on a couch.
