Juliana Olayode, a Nollywood Actress who is best known for her role in Jenifa’s diary as Toyosi aka Toyo Baby, a source has confirmed that she has parted ways with the producer of the popular series, Funke Akindele.
According to TNS sources, Funke Akindele removed Toyo Baby from the series over ‘bad pay’.
The source revealed that Toyo Baby was cut off from the popular TV series for requesting an increment in pay which didn’t go well with Funke Akindele who feels she’s an ingrate being that Olayode rose to stardom through her appearances on the show.
Sources close to SceneOneProductions, producers of Jenifa’s Diary, further revealed to TNS that the producer of the show, Funke Akinkele via her production manager and younger sister Abimbola pays actors between N3,000 and N150,000 (per episode/season of the show) depending on the role.
An actress, who spoke to TNS under the condition of anonymity via text message, narrated how she was paid what she termed ‘peanuts’ by Akindele’s team after being part of an all-night party scene on Jenifa’s Diary.
The source who explained her excitement at finally getting a shot at being on the series only to be disappointed by the meagre pay dished out. She was obviously shocked by the little payment from a supposed top series in the movie industry.

She said:
‘Location was Amen Estate, Eleko. After filming with over 30 girls the whole night, Funke came to address us and advice that money shouldn’t be our priorities at this stage; that was when it occurred to me that something awkward was about to happen….just then, the Production Manager, Mr Osmond whispered something to Funke’s sister, Abimbola and she started paying us each 3K. Can u imagine? 3K for all night shoot!…on Jenifa’s Diary!…
‘I was so mad, some of us had to turn down the money shaa….couldn’t face my mom to explain to her what happened the next morning.’

According to TNS findings, actors Lota Chukwu, Omotunde Lolo 1, Falz (who has also left the show) and Olayode are the highest paid actors who take home N150,000 per season. The rest take home much lesser money.
Stars like Tiwa Savage, Toke Makinwa and others who have had cameo appearances on the show reportedly got between N100,000 and N300,000 for ‘showing face’.
You will also note that Juliana was absent at events and parties that held at Funke’s house in Lekki.
Funke and Juliana have also unfollowed each other on their social media accounts.

Washington, U.S.A — Congressional leaders in both parties said Thursday they expect to pass legislation to prevent a government shutdown, despite a tweet storm from President Trump accusing Democrats of trying to force one, USA Today reports.
“I’m confident we’ll be able to pass a short-term extension (of government funding),” House Speaker Paul Ryan told reporters at a news conference Thursday. He did say, however, that the only reason a short-term bill is needed is because Democrats have been “dragging their feet” in negotiations for a longer-term bill.
The House and Senate appropriations committees introduced legislation Tuesday night to extend current government funding for a week, through May 5. Current funding is set to expire at midnight Friday unless Congress acts. A week-long extension would give congressional negotiators more time to come up with a deal to fund federal agencies for the rest of fiscal year 2017, which ends on Sept. 30.
A vote on the week-long extension could come as early as Thursday.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said she wasn’t sure whether Democrats would support the short-term extension. But she said Ryan should have enough votes among Republicans to pass it.
“We are committed to keeping government open,” Pelosi said.
She said lawmakers are continuing to try to resolve the remaining issues that are holding up a longer-term deal, including disagreements over a rule that requires financial advisers to act in the best interests of clients saving for retirement. Democrats want to protect the rule in the funding bill but Republicans want to scrap it, saying it is confusing and burdensome. Democrats also are seeking aid for Puerto Rico, which is running out of Medicaid funds.
“We are hoping we will be able to resolve these differences,” she said.
However, Trump accused Democrats of trying to force a shutdown to bail out Puerto Rico and reward insurance companies that give them campaign donations. Democrats have been pushing for language in the funding bill to ensure that the Trump administration continues to pay subsidies to insurance companies that offer low-cost coverage to low-income Americans under the Affordable Care Act.
Trump had threatened to stop making those payments to pressure Democrats to support a health care bill to replace the ACA — also known as Obamacare. The White House seemed to back off that threat Wednesday, with officials promising to continue making those payments, at least for now.
“Democrats jeopardizing the safety of our troops to bail out their donors from insurance companies,” Trump said in one tweet. The funding bill is expected to include extra money for defense programs and combat operations.

NIGERIAN children received 450 million out of a total of 2.5 billion doses of vaccines procured by UNICEF in 2016 to children in nearly 100 countries, Vanguard reports.
Almost half of the world’s children under the age of five were reached by the vaccines, according to figures released during World Immunisation Week, April 24th-28th, 2017.
The release showed that access to immunisation has led to a dramatic decrease in deaths of children under five from vaccine-preventable diseases, and has brought the world closer to eradicating polio.
Between 2000 and 2015, under five deaths due to measles declined by 85 per cent and those due to neonatal tetanus by 83 per cent.
A proportion of the 47 per cent reduction in pneumonia deaths and 57 per cent reduction in diarrhoea deaths in this time is also attributed to vaccines.
Weak health systems, poverty and social inequities were identified as major contributors why 1 in 5 children under five is still not reached with life-saving vaccines.
According to Chief of Immunisation at UNICEF, Dr. Robin Nandy, “All children, no matter where they live or what their circumstances are, have the right to survive and thrive, safe from deadly diseases.
“Since 1990, immunisation has been a major reason for the substantial drop in child mortality, but despite this progress, 1.5 million children still die from vaccine preventable diseases every year.”
Inequalities persist between rich and poor children. In countries where 80 per cent of the world’s under-five child deaths occur, over half of the poorest children are not fully vaccinated. Globally, the poorest children are nearly twice as likely to die before the age of five as the richest.
“In addition to children living in rural communities where access to services is limited, more and more children living in overcrowded cities and slum dwellings are also missing out on vital vaccinations,” said Nandy.
“Overcrowding, poverty, poor hygiene and sanitation as well as inadequate nutrition and health care increase the risk of diseases such as pneumonia, diarrhea and measles in these communities; diseases that are easily preventable with vaccines.”
By 2030, an estimated 1 in 4 people will live in urban poor communities, mainly in Africa and Asia, meaning the focus and investment of immunisation services must be tailored to the specific needs of these communities and children, UNICEF said.

The Trump administration prepared Wednesday to release a tax reform plan that calls for big corporate rate cuts and an increase in standard deductions, a pricey package that could face an uphill climb in Congress, USA Today reports.
“This is going to be the biggest tax cut and the largest tax reform in the history of our country and we are committed to seeing this through,” Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said during a morning forum sponsored by The Hill.
Republicans greeted news of the tax cut plan enthusiastically, though some GOP members and Democrats worried that the plan would further increase federal debt, cutting taxes without increasing income or cutting other parts of government.
“The Trump tax plan does not pay for itself” and “doesn’t even come close,” said Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Calif. “America is a great nation, but we haven’t yet discovered magic.”
Aides said Trump will call for a sharp cut in the corporate tax rate, from 35% to 15%. He will also call for lowering the rates for so-called “pass-throughs” or “S corporations,” small organizations that currently file returns under the individual tax code.
The package to be released Wednesday is not expected to include infrastructure programs, a child care tax credit, and other items to be introduced in later months, officials said.
While Trump will push for higher standard deductions, allowing filers to shield more income from taxation, it is not yet clear what the new deductions would be. Filers can currently claim standard deduction of $6,300 for individuals and $12,600 for married couples filing jointly.
The administration had originally planned to roll out their tax reform plan later this year. But Trump announced last week he would unveil it Wednesday, part of a week-long series of events leading up to his 100th day in office on Saturday.
Mnuchin wouldn’t put a time frame on congressional approval, saying that “we’re working hard to get it done quickly.”
While the Treasury Secretary and other officials said the tax cuts would stimulate the economy and generate economic growth to increase government revenues, some members of Congress expressed skepticism about those projections.

This week, more than 138,000 vaccinators will fan out across five African countries in the Lake Chad area in a push to eliminate polio in Africa and rid the world of this terrible disease forever.
They will take boats across fast-flowing rivers, ride jeeps along sandy ravines, walk crowded street in towns and cities and navigate cramped quarters of refugee camps to ensure that every child is immunized. Traveling for hours a day, these dedicated women and men will visit children in homes, schools, train stations, and transit points across Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon, and the Central African Republic.
This also marks World Immunization Week , a coordinated effort to make sure that people everywhere understand the importance of getting immunized to protect against vaccine-preventable diseases.
And by coincidence, it was almost seven years ago that the two of us first met in a hotel conference room in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. We were there as part of a diverse group—public officials, religious leaders, business people, polio survivors, and journalists—to discuss how we could work together to stop polio in Nigeria.
At the time, Nigeria had done an amazing job tackling polio—reducing reported cases by 95 percent in just one year. But it was still circulating in six Nigerian states. While 95 percent might seem like success, as long as a single child remains infected, children across Africa and around the world are at risk.
Thanks to the effort of so many, Nigeria’s Borno State is now the only place in Africa today where polio is still circulating. It will take ingenuity to end polio there, and it will take persistence to continue reaching children in the surrounding area with vaccines to protect them from the disease until it is eradicated. But we’re confident it can be done. And when that happens, Africa will celebrate one of the biggest victories ever in public health.
Since our first meeting in 2010, the two of us have worked together on a range of other projects to help improve health in Nigeria and across Africa.
We supported the establishment of emergency operations centers in Nigeria and other countries to keep polio from spreading. This turned out to be a blessing during the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa. When the disease first appeared in Nigeria—an international travel hub that is home to more than 180 million people—the staff of an emergency operations center set up in Lagos jumped into action and stopped the disease in its tracks. It’s almost unimaginable to think what would have happened without them.
In the state of Kano, we are working with the government to ensure that children can get essential childhood immunizations against tetanus, pneumonia, liver cancer and measles. And when parents bring their children into a clinic for vaccinations, health workers can address other health issues, too, like nutrition, care for pregnant mothers and newborns and malaria prevention and treatment. We have since widened the program to several other states.
Vaccines are also one of the best tools to save lives in an epidemic, such as the meningitis C outbreak happening now in Nigeria and other West African countries.
And because of the devastating impact malnutrition has on Nigeria’s children – leading to 300,000 deaths annually and causing stunted growth and development in millions more – we have expanded our partnership to include nutrition programs across 12 states.
Earlier this year, we also helped launch the End Malaria Council, a group of influential public and private sector leaders committed to ensuring that malaria eradication remains a top global priority.
Underlying all these efforts is our belief that strengthening health systems is the key to breaking the cycle of extreme poverty and disease—and kick-starting a virtuous cycle of health, productivity, and prosperity.
In our work together, we have learned a few important lessons.
First, improving the health of communities depends on a successful partnership between government, communities, religious and business leaders, volunteers, and NGOs. This ensures that everyone is rowing in the same direction. And it is essential to building trust so parents have the confidence that vaccines are safe and will protect their children from life-threatening diseases.
Second, we must keep innovating to speed up progress. This month, for example, vaccinators will test a new vaccine carrier that keeps the temperature of vaccines stable for up to five days, even in blistering heat. This breakthrough will enable vaccinators to finally reach children in extremely remote areas with life-saving vaccines.
Last, accurate and reliable data is central to any effort to improve health. Data can tell a health officer which communities are running low on vaccine supplies, where there are gaps in vaccination coverage, and which new mothers need reminders to take their babies to the health clinic to be immunized.
An Africa without polio is within reach. So is the vision of getting life-saving vaccines to every child. Success will generate more enthusiasm and support from across different sectors – government, business, civil society, the media – to tackle other killer diseases and the underlying conditions that affect people’s health, including fixing broken health systems.
We know that strengthening health systems takes time and diligence. We are optimistic that Africa can achieve the future it aspires to. That future depends on people working together—across national borders and across socioeconomic strata—to build the better world we all want.

A Minna High Court on Tuesday ordered the remand in prison custody of former governor of Niger state, Babangida Aliyu, who styled himself the Chief servant, while in office.
He is standing trial over alleged N4.568 billion fraud and abuse of office.
Aliyu was docked alongside his former Chief of Staff, Umar Nasko , on a six -count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust, punishable under Section 97 and 312 of the Penal Code.
The defendants were accused of conspiring and dishonestly converting to personal use funds amounting to N4.568 billion, belonging to the Niger State Government.
According to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) , the funds are for ecological projects, as well as proceeds realised from the sale of 16 per cent shares of the state in the North-South Power Company.
Ayodele Oladeji (SAN) and Mamman Osuman (SAN), who appeared as lead counsel for the 1st and 2nd defendants respectively, applied for the bail of their clients as they pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them.
They argued that the defendants were always available when invited by the EFCC, adding there was no evidence they would jump bail.
The defence counsel, however, prayed the court to remand the defendants in EFCC custody, if it was going to fix a date for hearing of the bail application.
The EFCC prosecutor, Gbolahan Latona, opposed the bail application, arguing that it would jeopardise investigations.
The EFCC prosecutor also opposed remanding the defendants in EFCC custody, saying that accused persons were usually remanded in prison custody once the court takes “cognisance of the case.”
Justice Aliyu Mayaki , ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the matter till May 3 for ruling on the bail application.
The two-time governor, who served between 2007 and 2015, had been in the custody of the EFCC since April 4.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Minna promptly deployed 30 armed men to Minna prison after the ruling by the court.
Philip Ayuba , Commandant of the Corps, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna shortly after the court sitting.
Ayuba said that movement of cars, motorcycles and other vehicles to the prison would be closely monitored.
“We will be patrolling the metropolis along with the Police and the DSS against any unforeseen circumstances,” he said.
He said the NSCDC personnel deployed will complement the efforts of the prison officers managing the prison against any security threat.
The commandant warned residents against any form of demonstration around the prison as anyone caught would be dealt with.
