Bath bombs are basically God’s gift to Earth after a long day, but buying a luxurious, well-crafted bomb is not-so-easy on the wallet. We’re looking at you, LUSH.

This is a fun activity to do with kids, too, since it’s basically playing in the sandbox — but with a fancier outcome. DIY bath bombs also make for awesome Valentine’s Day gifts!

You will need:
2 bowls Measuring spoons and cups 1 cup baking soda 1/2 cup cornstarch 1/2 cup epsom salts 4 tablespoons cream of tartar 2-1/2 tablespoons oil (I used coconut but you can use olive or vegetable oil too) 2 teaspoons essential oil (lavender, jasmine, whatever you like!) Food coloring 3/4 tablespoon water Plastic mold (I used a fillable ornament. You can also use soap molds!)

Directions:
In a large bowl, add all dry ingredients (baking soda, cornstarch, epsom salts and cream of tartar) and whisk together.

In a separate bowl, mix all wet ingredients, (oil, essential oil, food coloring (2-6 drops) and water.

Now slowly pour your liquid ingredient mix into the dry mixture, whisking them together slowly. The texture should be crumbly.

Scoop a generous amount into your mold, packing it down. If you’re using a plastic, fillable ornament, fill one side, then the other, then squeeze the halves together, wiping away excess mixture at the seam. If you want to add a little trinket or note inside the bath bomb, press it into one side of your ball.

To release a bath bomb from the round mold, tap the outside mold shell with a spoon to loosen it. Then turn it over, and repeat the process with the other half.

Lay your bath bombs out on a cookie sheet to dry overnight.

The fun part about DIY bath bombs is the customization! You can open a green tea bag and sprinkle in tea leaves, experiment with different essential oils, add real lavender or orange peel, and for the bravest of brave — microglitter. Have fun trying different colors and molds!

If you’re giving these as gifts, some fun ways to package them are in little drawstring mesh bags, cellophane bags, inside cupcake papers or even several in a large Mason jar.

If you are suffering from insomnia , there are many steps you can take to change behaviors and lifestyle to help you get to sleep . Here are some tips for beating insomnia .

1. Wake up at the same time each day. It is tempting to sleep late on weekends, especially if you have had poor sleep during the week. However, if you suffer from
insomnia you should get up at the same time every day in order to train your body to wake at a consistent time.

2. Eliminate alcohol and stimulants like nicotine and caffeine . The effects of
caffeine can last for several hours, perhaps up to 24 hours, so the chances of it affecting sleep are significant.
Caffeine may not only cause difficulty initiating sleep, but may also cause frequent awakenings. Alcohol may have a sedative effect for the first few hours following consumption, but it can then lead to frequent arousals and a non-restful night’s sleep. If you are on medications that act as stimulants, such as
decongestants or asthma inhalers, ask your doctor when they should best be taken to help minimize any affect on sleep.

3. Limit naps. While napping seems like a proper way to catch up on missed sleep, it is not always so. It is important to establish and maintain a regular sleep pattern and train oneself to associate sleep with cues like darkness and a consistent bedtime . Napping can affect the quality of nighttime sleep.

4. Exercise regularly. Regular exercise can improve sleep quality and duration. However, exercising immediately before
bedtime can have a stimulant effect on the body and should be avoided. Try to finish exercising at least three hours before you plan to retire for the night.

5. Limit activities in bed. The bed is for sleeping and having sex and that’s it. If you suffer from insomnia , do not balance the checkbook, study, or make phone calls, for example, while in bed or even in the bedroom, and avoid watching television or listening to the radio. All these activities can increase alertness and make it difficult to fall asleep.

6. Do not eat or drink right before going to bed. Eating a late dinner or snacking before going to bed can activate the digestive system and keep you up. If you suffer from gastroesophageal reflux ( GERD ) or
heartburn, it is even more important to avoid eating and drinking right before bed since this can make your symptoms worse. In addition, drinking a lot of fluids prior to bed can overwhelm the bladder , requiring frequent visits to the bathroom that disturb your sleep.

7. Make your sleeping environment comfortable. Temperature, lighting, and noise should be controlled to make the bedroom conducive to falling (and staying) asleep. Your bed should feel comfortable and if you have a pet that sleeps in the room with you, consider having the pet sleep somewhere else if it tends to make noise in the night.

8. Get all your worrying over with before you go to bed. If you find you lay in bed thinking about tomorrow, consider setting aside a period of time — perhaps after dinner — to review the day and to make plans for the next day. The goal is to avoid doing these things while trying to fall asleep. It is also useful to make a list of, say, work-related tasks for the next day before leaving work. That, at least, eliminates one set of concerns.

9. Reduce stress . There are a number of relaxation therapies and stress reduction methods you may want to try to relax the mind and the body before going to bed. Examples include progressive muscle relaxation (perhaps with audio tapes), deep breathing techniques, imagery, meditation , and biofeedback .

10. Consider participating in cognitive therapy. Cognitive therapy helps some people with
insomnia identify and correct inappropriate thoughts and beliefs that may contribute to insomnia. In addition, cognitive therapy can give you the proper information about sleep norms, age-related sleep changes, and help set reasonable sleep goals, among other things.

Is it dry? greasy? flaky? Any of these can be a sign of either simply a need for a change in your hair regimen, diet or a medical issue.
Think of your hair as trees, grass, or flowers and your scalp as the soil. If the soil isn’t cared for, the plants can not flourish. Communication skills
This doesn’t mean you have to be a brilliant orator or writer. It does mean you have to express yourself well, whether it’s writing a coherent memo , persuading others with a
presentation or just being able to calmly explain to a team member what you need.

Teamwork and collaboration
Employers want employees who play well with others—who can effectively work as part of a team. That means sometimes being a leader, sometimes being a good follower, monitoring the progress, meeting deadlines and working with others across the organization to achieve a common goal.

Adaptability

If you’ve heard a lot about “soft skills” lately, it’s at least partly because employers want you to develop them. According to Global Recruiting Trends study at LinkedIn, more employers are rolling out “soft skills assessments” to test job candidates on the cognitive and personality qualities you don’t go to school to learn: critical thinking, adaptability, learning agility, communication, etc. By all indications, these factors are trading at a higher value in 2017 than they have in the past.

But since they seem to be in high demand and comparatively short supply, companies are investing in new technologies meant to zoom in on the right folks faster. Here’s what it takes to earn high marks in the job market for your soft skills, whether you face one of those new assessment tools or a flesh-and-blood hiring manager on a job interview.

While some employers still use traditional interview questions to assess soft skills, others are turning to predictive hiring software. Berke, for instance, is a hiring tool that evaluates job applications according to a position’s job description and tries to determine which personality traits would boost their performance in the role. Another tool, Koru, looks at companies’ current teams and aims to gauge the soft-skills makeup of their star players.

The companies that are already experimenting with this kind of tech aren’t doing so behind closed doors—they want candidates to know about it, and prep accordingly. Many of these platforms and programs post tips and advice to their websites to help job seekers get a better idea of how to succeed. Koru outlines seven key traits it’s built to look for in most new hires. The first one is “grit, the ability to stick with it when things get hard.”

So to prepare, don’t hesitate to ask an HR contact inside the company whether they’re using any predictive tools to help them evaluate job candidates. If you learn that they are, do a little research on the technology you may have to face, so you can show yourself off in the best light.

If you handle change well, companies are likely to prefer you to someone who has a PhD or 10 years of experience but isn’t as adaptable.

Have you been on board during a time when your company switched from a hardware model to a software model? From a product to a service? How did you respond? Maybe you transitioned off a team led by your favorite manager and joined an unfamiliar group. What was that like? Short of that, employers are already retooling their go-to set of interview questions in order to shift toward soft skills.

This means candidates need to rethink how they prepare for interviews. Canned answers may work even worse than they did in the past—it’s all about rolling with the punches. For now, check out the most common interview questions employers are using these days to tease out soft skills, and start working on your answers.

Be honest with yourself: What would happen if you went into work tomorrow and your manager said, “We’re shutting down XYZ project and we don’t know what’s next”? This happens all the time.

Finding yourself in a situation like this can take a toll on your health and happiness—that is, if you aren’t comfortable adapting to unforeseen changes. On the other hand, if you’re someone with what recruiters think of as high “change agility,” make sure to find a place on the bleeding edge of it. At all events, just be honest with yourself.

Upcoming Nollywood actress Jewel Infinity was hospitalized following a beating she received from an army officer in Rivers State. The actress who was on her way to Onitsha when the vehicle she boarded was stopped by soldiers.

Jewel Infinity cried out for help in a post on her page, she said:

“Please my good people, I’m sincerely calling out for justice against violence. I am hospitalized right now. I’m in serious pain and agony; in between life and death.I boarded a siena vehicle leaving PortHarcourt for Onitsha. We were pulled over by some soldiers.

One of them, SULAIMAN OLAMILEKAN, began to molest me. He accused me of discussing him, where I was only having a friendly debate with the lady beside me. I explained to him, but he ignored me and demanded I disembark, kneel down and apologise to him.

I told him I did nothing wrong to apologise. He started hitting me with a stick. The other soldiers confiscated and broke my phone, to prevent me from taking pictures. When I told them that I’d no longer proceed with the journey, they refused.

The driver drove off to some distance away from there, and I alighted and returned to Portharcourt and went straight to the Barracks to report him. His superiors pleaded that I shouldn’t take the case any further; that he’d be remanded for one month, which i feel is not enough justice.

He was summoned and he confessed that i didn’t do anything to have warranted his cruel action, that he was in a very bad mood. He begged me to forgive him and not take things seriously. Right now i am bedridden.

The doctor said I’m running temperature due to my high blood pressure. I am in serious pain and rendered partially immoveable. His facebook I.D is Sulaiman Olamilekan.

Please help me reach out to anybody in authority, who can fight this violence. Violence is indeed a cankerworm that has eaten us deep into every fabric of the Nigerian Army Force. Soldiers fight and protect their own, not to destroy the innocent civilians.”
