Rather than wish President Muhammadu Buhari dead, Nigerians have been asked to pray for his speedy recovery from whatever ailment he may be suffering from. This suggestion was made by Chief Victor Oye, the national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), during a chit-chat with journalists in Anambra state.
The Guardian quoted Oye to have said that God sent Buhari to Nigeria at a time like this, to build the nation and so far, the president has done his best, hence the need to pray for him to come and continue with the good works.
Speaking also on the forthcoming governorship election in the state, the APGA stalwart boldly assured that his party would produce the next governor in Anambra. While drumming support for the incumbent, Willie Obiano, Oye insisted that no other party can handle Anambra state better than APGA and vowed to keep working with stakeholders and party members to ensure their dreams come true.
In a related development, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state has called on Nigerians to appreciate the coming of President Buhari into their lives.
According to the governor, Nigeria would have been a worse place to live in had President Buhari not emerge winner of the 2015 presidential election in the country.
The Nation reports that Governor Ajimobi made this statement on Friday, February 3, at the 2017 Annual General Conference of Cherubim and Seraphim Church of Nigeria where he was represented by his deputy, Chief Moses Adeyemo.

Cutting back on salt, high fat foods and too many breads and pasta, and eating more fruits and vegetables is the best way to a healthy heart. But eating well isn’t just about what you eat, say heart experts, but about when you eat.
In a new Scientific Statement, experts from various committees of the American Heart Association say that paying attention to how often you eat, and at what time of the day you eat, can help to lower risk of heart attacks and stroke.
The panel reviewed all of the available studies on how often and when people eat. Based on what’s known so far, the panel, led by Marie-Pierre St-Onge, an associate professor of nutritional medicine at Columbia University, supports existing advice about the benefits of breakfast. That advice is based on studies that compare breakfast-eaters to non-eaters and their heart disease events. Breakfast-eaters tend to have lower rates of heart disease, and were also less likely to have high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. They also tended to have more normal blood sugar levels and sugar metabolism, meaning they were at lower risk of diabetes than those who didn’t eat breakfast. Still, the existing research isn’t strong enough yet to say that people who don’t normally eat breakfast should start—or that people who already do should expect to be heart-disease and diabetes-free for the rest of their lives.
The data isn’t so clear on the benefits of eating more frequently during day. While some observational studies that ask people about their meal habits suggest that people who eat more often have lower cholesterol and reduced risk of diabetes, the data is more mixed on whether eating smaller meals more often can help with weight loss. And the controlled studies that more rigorously tracked exactly what people ate found that more frequent eating, even if the total number of calories was kept constant, may not be beneficial for lowering heart disease risk or obesity.
Finally, on the question of what effects eating earlier in the day or later in the day can have on heart health, the panel found that the research points toward the benefits of eating earlier rather than later. More studies are needed but the initial finding makes sense, says St-Onge. The more calories you eat during the day, the more chances you have of burning off those calories.
Plus, there’s growing evidence that the body’s metabolism is different during the day, when the body is active, than during the evening, when it’s preparing to shut down. “The body and all of the organs have clocks,” she says. “There is a timing that provide all the nutrients that organs need, and the timing activity of enzymes and other agents that process food are better earlier in the day than at night.”
So while more research is certainly needed to better understand how the timing and frequency of how meals affect your health, it wouldn’t hurt to keep eating breakfast (if you already do) and try to space your meals earlier in the day.

The key to reducing your spending is to cut back a little in every area. Start with simplifying your life. We fool ourselves by never thinking about the total annual costs of the things we spend our hard-earned money on. Spending $100 for cell phone service may not seem like much on a monthly basis, but that’s $1200 in one year!
I want you to rethink your values, particularly those related to money. Focus on what you’ve determined is really important in your life and the lives of your family members. We get so caught up in our lifestyles that we fail to realize we’re spending a great deal of our money on things that don’t even fit into our value system.
This Instructable gives you 18 tips for simplification that might work for you. Perhaps they’ll help you think of other ways that you can cut back financially, slow down, and enjoy the things that really matter. These tips will help you get started on a life-long journey of frugality.
STEP 1: STOP UNNECESSARY SHOPPING.
I’m not talking about purposeful shopping for necessary items. I mean strolling through the mall, window shopping, or surfing online stores with nothing particular in mind, simply looking for great bargains and things that happen to strike your fancy. This kind of “shopping’ is a very dangerous thing to do.
I’m not suggesting that you never buy anything again, but that your spending should become a planned act, purchasing the goods and services you need, not spur-of-the-moment, impulsive spending.
STEP 2: PAY WITH CASH ONLY.
Retailers are well aware of the statistics that prove that you will spend at least 30 percent more if you are in a store with a credit card, debit card, or checkbook than you would with “cold hard cash.” A customer who carries cash is the last thing they want to see coming. Why? Because they know how cautious and non-impulsive the cash buyer is.
STEP 3: KEEP A DAILY AND WEEKLY SPENDING RECORD.
Seeing where your money goes keeps you from lapsing into a spending coma. A spending record makes you really think about your spending habits. It will provide proof of your challenges and progress. Plus, keeping a daily and weekly spending record is the first step toward establishing a monthly budget.
First, keep a daily spending record for thirty days or one month. This is simply a written account of the money you spend during a specific day. Writing it down is the only way to find out where all of your money is going. Each time you spend cash, write a check, use your credit card, or use your debit card–write it down.
Accumulate seven days of spending records for one week. Accumulate four weeks of spending records for one month. Then you’ll be able to create your monthly budget based on what you’ve spent over the last month.
Print Daily Spending Record
Print Weekly Spending Record
STEP 4: KEEP YOUR CAR TIRES FILLED.
Check your car tires weekly to make sure they’re properly inflated, holding the exact amount of air pressure as recommended in your owner’s manual. In this particular manual, the recommended tire pressure is 35 PSI.
Keeping your tires properly inflated should increase your gas mileage by up to 10 percent.
STEP 5: GROCERY SHOP WITH A LIST.
A grocery shopping list is your game plan. The food industry spends billions of dollars a year to weaken your resistance to spend more money with fancy packaging and compelling displays. Create your list according to the layout of your grocery store, only buying those items that you need.
Remember Step 1: Staying out of the store unless absolutely necessary will decrease your exposure time and your temptation.
STEP 6: BE BRAND FLEXIBLE.
Staying loyal to a specific brand might cost you a lot of money in the long run. If you’re willing to go with what’s on sale, the store’s brand, or the brand for which you have a coupon, you’re likely to keep more of your money in your wallet.
An 18-oz. jar of Jif brand peanut butter at Walmart costs $2.98. The same size jar of Great Value brand at Walmart costs $2.56. That’s a difference of 42 cents! Imagine how much you could save if you switched all of your name brand products with the store brand.
STEP 7: USE SALE ADS.
Plan your meals and shopping list around what’s on sale this week. Collect the sale ads that come in the mail and in the weekly newspaper.
STEP 8: PLAN MEALS CAREFULLY AT YOUR FAVORITE GROCERY STORE.
1. You choose your meal plan according to your eating style, family size, and grocery store.
2. Each week you’ll receive your meal plan, complete with seven dinner recipes and shopping list–directly to your email inbox.
3. Take your shopping list that’s coordinated with the weekly sales at your favorite grocery store and enjoy healthy, home-cooked meals at a bargain.
STEP 9: USE COUPONS.
Use coupons only for items you’d buy if you didn’t have the coupon. Always buy the smallest qualifying size when using a coupon.
STEP 10: EAT LUNCH AND BREAKFAST FOR DINNER.
Instead of cooking the typical meat and potatoes for dinner, try having “breakfast” for the evening meal instead. Fry eggs, and pancakes can be a delicious, time saving twist to the end of a long day.
STEP 11: FIND A FREE BANK ACCOUNT.
It may take some searching, but there are many banks and credit unions that offer free accounts with a minimum balance.
STEP 12: PAY YOUR BILLS ONLINE.
Paying your bills online through your bank’s or an independent bill paying site will save you a lot of time and money. You won’t have to pay postage and you’ll have an electronic record of your banking activity.
STEP 13: USE ONLY NO-FEE ATMS.
Use only automatic teller machines (ATMs) that are networked into your bank’s system and for which you will not be charged a transaction fee.
STEP 14: WASH YOUR CLOTHES IN COLD WATER.
If you’re like most families, the bulk of your laundry is only lightly soiled. Modern-day detergents clean clothes just as well in cold water as in warm or hot. Your colors will last longer too!
STEP 15: DO A MOVIE SWITCH.
Instead of going out to a movie and dinner, go to a bargain-priced matinee and dessert after.
You can even cut entertainment cost by renting a DVD.
STEP 16: ESCAPE TO THE LIBRARY.
You’ll be amazed at what fun you and your kids can have at the library.
You can borrow DVDs, CDs, audio books, and of course–exciting books!
Some libraries even have story time, arts and crafts, and documentary film showings.
STEP 17: GO FOR A WALK AND EXERCISE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD.
If you’ve never explored your neighborhood, take the time to find out what you’ve been missing.
Instead of paying for a gym membership, go for walks around your neighborhood for exercise.
STEP 18: BE A TOURIST IN YOUR OWN CITY.
Go online and search your community or city as if you were a tourist coming for a visit. Many of the activities are free or highly discounted. Your local tourism bureau should help you find lots to do and see in your city and surrounding area.
STEP 19: THE RESULT IS THAT YOU SPEND LESS THAN YOU MAKE AND SAVE MONEY.
If you practice the steps of this Instructable, you will be a person who earns money and manages to hang onto it by spending less than you make.
You probably don’t need to eliminate one area entirely, but rather cut back a little bit in every area.
Strive to get the very best value you can and fully enjoy the things you have or make use of.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), says it has mobilised no fewer than 15,000 Nigerian youths to welcome Pres. Buhari at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, from vacation.
Malam Gambo Jagindi, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President of NYCN, Murtala Gamji, made the disclosure in Abuja.
“The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has concluded arrangements to mobilise not less than 15,000 of its members to be at Abuja airport on Feb. 6, to welcome President Buhari from vacation.
It is on record that integrity, discipline and honesty are gradually returning to our public life unlike in the past when impunity was the order of the day,’’ the spokesman said.
He berated those spreading rumours of death about the President. He said: “we all know that they do not have the interest of our country at heart and are only wishing to carry on with the looting of our treasury in the absence of our president.’
He commended the president’s efforts to rid the country of what he termed, “undesirable elements’’ who did not mean well for Nigeria and Nigerians. He urged Buhari to continue with the good work as the youths of Nigeria were solidly behind him.

The former president who is from Bayelsa, an oil-rich state in the Niger Delta region, spoke when he met with the United States Congress House sub-committee on Africa.
Premium Times quoted a spokesperson to the former president, Ikechukwu Eze, as saying the meeting was part of efforts of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation to continue to promote peace and prosperity in Nigeria and Africa.
According to the report, the former president, who is the chairman of the foundation, was invited by the sub-committee and he said the government must implement the resolutions of the 2014 National Conference.
According to him, this is the only way to prevent ethnic and religious tensions such as the one currently ravaging the southern area of Kaduna state.
The report said Jonathan also noted that violence was being fueled by impunity. According to him, those perpetrating violence in the country are encouraged because previous suspects are not arrested.
Jonathan revealed ways to resolve the tension that has gripped the country
Jonathan recalled how he tried to tackle the case of Kabiru Sokoto, the man allegedly behind the Christmas Day bombing of Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church in Madalla, Niger state.
Sokoto who was arrested, prosecuted, convicted and imprisoned by while Jonathan was president.
The president was quoted as saying: “That promise was fulfilled on the 20th of December 2013 when Kabiru Umar, aka Kabiru Sokoto, was sentenced to life imprisonment after my administration investigated that crime, identified him as the mastermind, arrested him and diligently prosecuted him and some of his associates.”
He said he supported true federalism as recommended in the report of the 2014 National Conference adding that this was the solution to the Niger Delta crisis.
He lamented that agencies created to handle the Niger Delta affairs have not been up to the task because of politics.

Nothing is more damaging to your confidence and self-esteem than being in an emotionally abusive relationship. Unlike physical abuse which rears its ugly head in dramatic outbursts, emotional abuse can be more insidious and elusive. In some cases, neither the abuser nor the victim are fully aware it’s happening.
The most obvious scenario for emotional abuse is in an intimate relationship in which a man is the abuser and the woman is the victim. However, a variety of studies show that men and women abuse each other at equal rates.* In fact, emotional abuse can occur in any relationship — between parent and child, in friendships, and with relatives.
So what is emotional abuse? It involves a regular pattern of verbal offense, threatening, bullying, and constant criticism, as well as more subtle tactics like intimidation, shaming and manipulation. Emotional abuse is used to control and subjugate the other person, and quite often it occurs because the abuser has childhood wounds and insecurities they haven’t dealt with — perhaps as a result of being abused themselves.
Are you living with an emotional abuser?
They didn’t learn healthy coping mechanisms or how to have positive, healthy relationships. Instead, they feel angry, hurt, fearful and powerless.
Male and female abusers tend to have high rates of personality disorders including borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, and antisocial personality disorder. Although emotional abuse doesn’t always lead to physical abuse, physical abuse is almost always preceded and accompanied by emotional abuse.*
The victim of the abuse quite often doesn’t see the mistreatment as abusive . They develop coping mechanisms of denial and minimizing in order to deal with the stress. But the effects of long-term emotional abuse can cause severe emotional trauma in the victim, including depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder.
If you aren’t sure what constitutes this damaging behavior, here are 30 signs of emotional abuse.
1. They humiliate you, put you down, or make fun of you in front of other people.
2. They regularly demean or disregard your opinions, ideas, suggestions, or needs.
3. They use sarcasm or “teasing” to put you down or make you feel bad about yourself.
4. They accuse you of being “too sensitive” in order to deflect their abusive remarks.
5. They try to control you and treat you like a child.
6. They correct or chastise you for your behavior.
7. You feel like you need permission to make decisions or go out somewhere.
8. They try to control the finances and how you spend money.
9. They belittle and trivialize you, your accomplishments, or your hopes and dreams.
10. They try to make you feel as though they are always right, and you are wrong.
11. They give you disapproving or contemptuous looks or body language.
12. They regularly point out your flaws, mistakes, or shortcomings.
13. They accuse or blame you of things you know aren’t true.
14. They have an inability to laugh at themselves and can’t tolerate others laughing at them.
15. They are intolerant of any seeming lack of respect.
16. They make excuses for their behavior, try to blame others, and have difficulty apologizing.
17. The repeatedly cross your boundaries and ignore your requests.
18. They blame you for their problems, life difficulties, or unhappiness.
19. They call you names, give you unpleasant labels, or make cutting remarks under their breath.
20. They are emotionally distant or emotionally unavailable most of the time.
21. They resort to pouting or withdrawal to get attention or attain what they want.
22. They don’t show you empathy or compassion.
23. They play the victim and try to deflect blame to you rather than taking personal responsibility.
24. They disengage or use neglect or abandonment to punish or frighten you.
25. They don’t seem to notice or care about your feelings.
26. They view you as an extension of themselves rather than as an individual.
27. They withhold sex as a way to manipulate and control.
28. They share personal information about you with others.
29. They invalidate or deny their emotionally abusive behavior when confronted.
30. They make subtle threats or negative remarks with the intent to frighten or control you.
The first step for those being emotionally abused is recognizing it’s happening. If you recognize any of the signs of emotional abuse in your relationship, you need to be honest with yourself so you can regain power over your own life, stop the abuse, and begin to heal. For those who’ve been minimizing, denying, and hiding the abuse, this can be a painful and frightening first step.
The stress of emotional abuse will eventually catch up with you in the form of illness, emotional trauma, depression, or anxiety. You simply can’t allow it to continue, even if it means ending the relationship. A licensed counselor who is trained in abusive relationships can help you navigate the pain and fears of leaving the relationship and work with you to rebuild your self-esteem.

Toke Makinwa is a Nigerian radio personality, television host, vlogger, and bestselling author. In 2015, she separated from her husband Maje Ayida following a scandal revealing he had impregnated his ex-girlfriend. Her estranged husband, Maje hires U.K and Nigerian lawyers to sue Toke Makinwa over ‘fabricated’ book, ‘On Becoming’.
According to the The Cable;
“Following the release of a tell-all memoir, On Becoming, documenting her relationship with Maje Ayida, Toke Makinwa, has been asked to stop the sales of the book and all forms of promotional activities, via a “letter of demand,” from Ayida’s lawyers.
In the book, Makinwa accused Ayida of giving her STDs, being a serial cheat and committing adultery. The legal documents describe the book as nothing but “exaggerated fabrication”. The book was said to contain “defamatory words”.
Maje Ayida has hired law firms in both the U.K and Nigeria to handle the case. They are Carter-Ruck, a leading defamation law firm in the UK to top figures like Simon Cowell, Elton John and Chelsea FC while Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) of Pineiro LP is heading the legal front in Nigeria.
According to the letter of demand sent to Makinwa, Ayida was said to have “requested legal separation” from her “within 6 months” of their marriage in January 2014 — “when it became clear that the marriage was breaking down”. .
Makinwa was alleged to have signed a legal separation agreement in July 2014,. The letter said it was well documented that Makinwa and Ayida had agreed to separate by July 2014, which the book failed to record. .
Pinheiro LP said it was untrue that Maje had given her an “STI.” The law firm further noted that the publication has brought “public ridicule” on Maje.” According to the law firm, Makinwa’s representation of Ayida in the book was “not a true reflection of who he is.”
Ayida, through his lawyers, has, among other things, informed Makinwa to retrieve the already-sold books and stop all forms of distribution and deliver up same at the place to be agreed upon by our client for destruction.”
It further said a failure to do so and tender a full page unreserved apology to Ayida in three national dailies “will result in the commencement of legal action.” She was given 7 days upon receipt of the letter to comply with the demands or they’d be forced to seek legal redress. The letter was sent last year, but it’s not sure if Makinwa got it.”
EFFECT OF BOOK ON MAJE’S CAREER
The law firm further noted that the publication has brought “public ridicule” on Maje, noting that his reputation has been “assaulted, injured and damaged.”
“His professional integrity as one of the leading health and wellness practitioners in Nigeria, and his professional credibility built over the years through dedicated hard work have been besmirched”, the letter said.
According to the law firm, Makinwa’s representation of Ayida in the book was “not a true reflection of who he is, his character and his background.”
DEMANDS OF AYIDA
Maje Ayida, through his lawyers, has, among other things, informed Makinwa to retrieve the already-sold books and stop all forms of distribution, TheCable Lifestyle understands.
The letter mandated Makinwa to “withdraw from circulation all copies of the book and take immediate steps to call in all copies of the book already distributed and deliver up same at the place to be agreed upon by our client for destruction.”
It further said a failure by the popular celebrity to “retract” the “published words” and tender a full page unreserved apology to Maje Ayida in three national dailies “will result in the commencement of legal action.”
Makinwa was also advised to “take immediate steps” to stop the distribution of the books on Amazon, iTunes and all forms of promotion on her social media accounts.

The warning letter was said to have been delivered to Makinwa on Monday, December 23, 2016.
Makinwa is set to hold a book reading in Ghana on Friday, February 3.
It can’t be immediately confirmed whether she received the letter of demand.
