The Coalition of Urhobo Nation Youth Leaders and Stakeholders (CUNYLS) has demanded that the presidency release a video recording of President Muhammadu Buhari who is currently in the United Kingdom on medical vacation.
The group made the suggestion on Friday, February 17 in a statement signed by Its convener, Comrade Rex Emojite Ekiugbo Anighoro and its acting Coordinator, Comrade Blessed Ughere.
According to Daily Post, the group also demanded a public presentation of the president’s health status. The group further suggested that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Alex Ekwueme should lead a delegation of statesmen to visit the president.
Part of the statement read: “We demand that a delegation of statesmen led by a former president pays a courtesy visit to Mr President in London, or wherever he is, and this visit be visually recorded and relayed to all Nigerians.
“We demand that the president’s state of health be immediately publicly declared for the benefits of all Nigerians.
“We recommend former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Alex Ekwueme to lead such delegation.
“We must state here that efforts by the presidency to stifle these rumours have rather given more impetus to the rumours.
“Perhaps it has not come to the realisations of the relevant authorities, but we must state here, that this current state of cul de sac and grave yard silence is an open invitation to power tussle, political imbroglio capable of destabilising the current government from actualisation of their campaign promises to our people.
“The desperation of members of the Presidency begs the question, if the President of Nigeria is healthy enough to receive guests stemmed from his political party’s leadership, why couldn’t he grant a live audience to multitude of Nigerians who thronged to demand that he addresses them.”
President Buhari has been in London since January 19. The presidency had first announced that he was there for a 10-day leave. But he has since extended the leave on medical grounds.

According to a report by USA Today, Sen. John McCain without ever mentioning President Trump by name, used a speech in Germany on Friday as an international platform in an apparent blast at his fellow Republican’s policies and worldview.
Speaking at the 2017 Munich Security Conference, McCain, R-Ariz., chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, warned the world leaders against isolationism. The so-called “think-tank” conference has met for the past five decades, drawing leaders for debate on international security challenges.
“My friends: In the four decades I have attended this conference, I cannot recall a year where its purpose was more necessary or more important,” he said.
“The next panel asks us to consider whether the West will survive. In recent years, this question would invite accusations of hyperbole and alarmism. Not this year. If ever there were a time to treat this question with a deadly seriousness, it is now. “
Trump, who rallied voters during the 2016 campaign with his America-first approach, has criticized NATO, calling it “obsolete” in a January interview with the U.K. news site The Times. Trump’s comments have alarmed European leaders and NATO ally countries.
McCain’s public bickering with Trump has heightened in recent weeks. At the summit, he called on world leaders to take seriously his fears over the president’s policies. According to a transcript posted on McCain’s website, the senator went on to target Trump’s signature enforcement orders and world view.
“What would von Kleist’s generation (the founders of the Munich conference) say if they saw our world today? I fear that much about it would be all-too-familiar to them, and they would be alarmed by it.
“They would be alarmed by an increasing turn away from universal values and toward old ties of blood, and race, and sectarianism.
“They would be alarmed by the hardening resentment we see toward immigrants, and refugees, and minority groups, especially Muslims.
“They would be alarmed by the growing inability, and even unwillingness, to separate truth from lies.
“They would be alarmed that more and more of our fellow citizens seem to be flirting with authoritarianism and romanticizing it as our moral equivalent.”
McCain finished his remarks on an optimistic note, calling on ally countries to join him in denouncing “adversaries” who aim to create divide.
“Make no mistake, my friends: These are dangerous times, but you should not count America out, and we should not count each other out,” he said. “We must be prudent, but we cannot wring our hands and wallow in self-doubt. We must appreciate the limits of our power, but we cannot allow ourselves to question the rightness and goodness of the West. We must understand and learn from our mistakes, but we cannot be paralyzed by fear. We cannot give up on ourselves and on each other. That is the definition of decadence. And that is how world orders really do decline and fall.
“This is exactly what our adversaries want. This is their goal. They have no meaningful allies, so they seek to sow dissent among us and divide us from each other. They know that their power and influence are inferior to ours, so they seek to subvert us, and erode our resolve to resist, and terrorize us into passivity. They know they have little to offer the world beyond selfishness and fear, so they seek to undermine our confidence in ourselves and our belief in our own values,” he said.

Senator Dino Melaye has blamed the civil servants for hampering the impact of the change promised by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) through corrupt practices.
Melaye, speaking with the media in Abuja, said that change mantra was not about the APC as a political party but about the way Nigerians conduct themselves, Daily Post reports.
He said: “The change mantra is not about the All Progressives Congress (APC). The civil servants who are responsible for major corruption in the system are still the same people.”
“The message of change is not only to members of the APC. It is to Nigeria and Nigerians on how we conduct ourselves; and, how we operate government agencies and activities” he said.
The senator called on Nigerians to have attitudinal change as the country needed such to overcome the current economic recession.
“Nigerians, we must have attitudinal change, we must decide that the country is in recession now and we are approaching depression so we must begin to take the right steps inwardly,” he said.
The senator also urged civil servants in this country, politicians and those who find themselves in positions of authority to become born-again, and begin to act positively towards ameliorating the past.

According to the Guardian, Trump said he wasn’t “ranting and raving” during his press conference, and that was correct. The President was confidently unhinged as he spent more than an hour berating the press and boasting without any real basis that “there has never been a presidency that’s done so much in such a short period of time”.
The press conference, nominally called to announce the nomination of Alexander Acosta to be secretary of labour, represented the first opportunity for reporters to ask the president about a series of stories about his administration’s ties to Russia and Vladimir Putin. Trump responded by focusing on the real enemy – the media. In fact, at times, it felt that the press conference focused more on CNN correspondent Jim Acosta than Alexander Acosta (Trump even made sure to check with the CNN correspondent that the two weren’t related) as the president prosecuted his case against CNN. Often, Trump seemed to be in a time capsule, railing against Hillary Clinton and reusing entire paragraphs of rhetoric that he had once directed against her while campaigning for the White House.
The result was a spectacle that was sheer entertainment if not terribly presidential. It was more comical as Trump needled reporters and engaged in a brand of insult comedy that was familiar from the campaign trail. At times, reporters couldn’t help but laugh at the President’s jabs despite their best instincts, simply because Trump’s comments were just that wacky and bizarre.
At times, the interactions with reporters went beyond combative into a Twilight Zone. Do you want to set up the meeting? Are they friends of yours?” the president asked the reporter about an influential bloc of congressmen.
Trump suggested that “drugs are becoming cheaper than candy bars”; insisted he only claimed falsely at the beginning of the press conference that he had won “the biggest electoral college win since Ronald Reagan” (in fact George HW Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama all won more electoral college votes) because he “was given bad information”; and opined in detail on CNN’s programming and ratings in its 10pm hour.
And there was an abundance of hard news. He insisted that “we had a very smooth rollout of the travel ban” despite all evidence and
announced a new executive order on the topic was coming next week. He assailed all reports on his aide’s ties to Russia as “a ruse” and “fake” while conceding that the cascade of leaks on the subject was real. He said he had fired his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn , because “he didn’t tell our vice-president properly” about his calls with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak but insisted that there was nothing improper about making the calls. “I would have directed him to do it if he wasn’t doing it, because that’s his job.” And he hedged on Barack Obama’s controversial Daca program for undocumented immigrants who entered the country as children.
During the election campaign, Trump would routinely make half a dozen statements at a single rally that might prove fatal to any other candidate. It was hard for the media to focus on a single issue then, when Trump was still an outsider and an underdog.
Today, some might focus on Trump’s statements on Russia or his attacks on the media. Others might focus on his outright lies and bizarre claims. But there can only be one takeaway from the press conference – Trump may have become President, but he will never be presidential. It has only been 27 days since the President took office.
