Activists, MPs and trade unions have vowed to hold the biggest demonstrations in UK history, outstripping the Iraq war protests, when Donald Trump makes his state visit later this year, and will kick off a programme of opposition to the US president with a migrant solidarity rally on Monday, the Guardian reports.
The Stop Trump coalition has hired a permanent staff member to coordinate protest efforts, with £16,000 raised via crowdfunding and £10,000 donated by the trade union Unison.
The demonstration on Monday is expected to draw more than 10,000 people. It will coincide with a parliamentary debate on a petition signed by 1.8 million people calling for the state visit to be cancelled in order to avoid embarrassment for the Queen.
In an official response rejecting the petition, the government said Trump should still be extended the “full courtesy” of a state visit.
Organisers said the protests, which they hope will last several days and follow Trump throughout his UK visit, would also “hold up a mirror to our own society” over the post-Brexit rise in hate crime and anti-immigrant rhetoric.
“Our hope is that this mass movement can swing public opinion on a range of issues in a way that progressives have never managed before, and on issues on which we have been losing for decades,” the group’s spokesman said.
Several of the UK’s largest unions have given their backing to the march, including Unison, GMB and the National Union of Students. Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green party politicians will attend the protest on Monday and have leant their support to future demonstrations, organisers said.
Caroline Lucas, the Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, said: “The planned state visit should clearly be cancelled and the invitation binned. It’s no wonder that almost 2 million people have signed a petition against the visit, and I’m proud that so many of my constituents have joined that call.
“On Monday evening I will be joining thousands of others in calling out Trump’s Islamophobia and racism and making clear that we expect our government to stand up to bigotry, not meekly back away from confronting it.”
Several organisers involved in the leftwing Labour movement Momentum are key organisers of the demonstration, as is the Guardian columnist and activist Owen Jones.
Charities who have given official backing include Friends of the Earth and Global Justice
Now, as well as smaller UK groups such as Sisters Uncut and Bridges Not Walls, which organised anti-Trump banner drops on dozens of UK bridges including Westminster bridge on the day of the US president’s inauguration.
Organisers say the coalition is not controlled by one dominant organisation. “This is a new kind of coalition, not run by any group or controlled by a central leadership, and committed to a real diversity of tactics,” the group’s spokesman said.
Monday’s rally in Parliament Square will hear from speakers including Lucas, Labour’s Rushanara Ali and the comedian Shappi Khorsandi, who came to Britain as a child refugee from Iran.
Other more explicitly leftwing speakers include the former Respect leader Salma Yaqoob and the NUS president, Malia Bouattia, who attracted some controversy after her election for comments about the influence of “Zionist-led media outlets”.
Monday’s protest is a joint effort with the movement One Day Without Us, promoting the rights of migrants and refugees, which organisers said had been brought into sharp focus by several measures in the first month of Trump’s presidency – the Mexican border wall, a travel ban from seven Muslim-majority countries and a halt to funding for NGOs that provide family planning services.
Kate Allen, UK director of Amnesty International, which is another NGO backing the coalition protests, said: “Some of our worst fears over what a Donald Trump presidency might lead to have already been realised.
“In the end the point isn’t whether Donald Trump gets the full-blown UK state visit treatment, it’s whether we raise our voice against this disastrous rollback of rights. It’s a major human rights fight, and one we can’t afford to lose.”

It can happen to everyone: it’s time to go to sleep and, suddenly, you start feeling hungry…What should your do? What to eat before bed? Well, you can have a healthy snack or drink a glass of milk, but there are some products that you should, definitely, avoid eating before bed…Let’s talk about those:
1) Pizza and pasta
Avoid eating pizza and pasta right before going to bed, because these meals are pretty heavy and rich in calories; eating this kind of food would give your tummy a real workout at night! When your sleep, your body relaxes and rests, so does your stomach, as well as other organs. On top of that, eating pasta and pizza before bed will, definitely, enlarge your love handles!
2) Coffee
If you want to drink something before hitting your cosy pillow, definitely, don’t go for coffee. In fact, coffee is a stimulant that has prolonged effect on the body (it’s effect will last for many hours), so that you won’t be able to sleep and rest properly; if you drink coffee at night, you might find yourself cleaning the kitchen, washing the floor or cooking three cakes, instead of sleeping; therefore, if you want to indulge yourself with a cup of tasty expresso, do it in the morning!
3) Ice cream
Ice cream is loaded with fats and sugar, it’s an absolute weight gaining bomb! When you inject sugar and fat into your body (by eating an ice cream) before going to sleep, your system won’t be able to burn this explosion of calories and will store them in your waistline for future use. Therefore, if you don’t want to gain weight, avoid eating ice cream before sleeping!
4) Cheese
Cheese is one of the worst foods to eat at night, especially for those who suffer from heartburn. Eating cheese before bed time can feel very heavy on the stomach, therefore, make sure to plan your meals in advance and enjoy that delightful portion of your favorite cheese during daytime instead.
5) Cookies and cakes
Cookies and cakes have similar to ice cream story. Packed with fats and sugar, cookies, cakes and various sweets (as well as chocolate) will give you a buzz at the wrong time. At night, when your body and the whole system try to relax and rest, the least thing you need is energizing sugar kick! If you feel like eating something sweet, make healthier choice and eat a fresh fruit or some berries. Chocolate (especially dark one), on the other hand, contains caffeine and can act as a stimulant, therefore, I suggest that you wait till dawn and then only bite your favorite chocolate bar.
6) Fast food
When you are looking for something to eat before bed time, avoid beef and bacon burgers like a plague. You don’t need this abundant injection of calories right before bed! Eating fast food before your night time rest is a guaranteed sleep killer! Moreover, the production of acid in your stomach will provoke very uncomfortable and unpleasant heartburn. Therefore, if chicken nuggets, french fries, onion rings and big macs appear in your mind when you are heading to bed, kick off these thoughts from your head straight away and drink a glass of water or milk instead.
7) Alcohol
If you want to have “terrible”, sleepless night, when you will wake up multiple times for no particular reason, then drink a glass of wine right before going to bed. Also, consuming alcohol prior to sleep, whether it’s wine, vodka or champagne, will have a big impact on the way your skin looks and feels and it can also aggravate snoring!
8) Soda
Soda, as well as energy drinks (such as red bull, for example) are, definitely, to be avoided, when you are getting ready for a good night rest. Packed with sugar, soda drinks also contain certain chemicals which can aggravate the gastrointestinal tract, therefore, sodas should, absolutely, be avoided at bed-time! If you feel thirsty, drinking a glass of water is the best decision! Also, most colas, as well as red bull contain caffeine, which is not the best friend of your good night sleep!
9) Spicy delicacies
Foods with the use of salsa, mustard and spicy peppers are not the best choice for a bed-time snack! These type of meals can cause strong heartburn and can prevent you from peacefully falling asleep, because of their energy boosting effects.
If you are thirsty at night, go for a glass of water, milk or green tea, if you feel hungry – eat sweet potato, banana, yogurt or rise. (Source: Beauty and Tips)

On the issue of the president’s health, he said: “It is a matter of opinion and that those who say are welcome to their opinion as there are some people who don’t want to believe the word of other people and no matter what you say or do you have not done it well hence you leave them to their opinion.”

The Coalition of Urhobo Nation Youth Leaders and Stakeholders (CUNYLS) has demanded that the presidency release a video recording of President Muhammadu Buhari who is currently in the United Kingdom on medical vacation.
The group made the suggestion on Friday, February 17 in a statement signed by Its convener, Comrade Rex Emojite Ekiugbo Anighoro and its acting Coordinator, Comrade Blessed Ughere.
According to Daily Post, the group also demanded a public presentation of the president’s health status. The group further suggested that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Alex Ekwueme should lead a delegation of statesmen to visit the president.
Part of the statement read: “We demand that a delegation of statesmen led by a former president pays a courtesy visit to Mr President in London, or wherever he is, and this visit be visually recorded and relayed to all Nigerians.
“We demand that the president’s state of health be immediately publicly declared for the benefits of all Nigerians.
“We recommend former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Alex Ekwueme to lead such delegation.
“We must state here that efforts by the presidency to stifle these rumours have rather given more impetus to the rumours.
“Perhaps it has not come to the realisations of the relevant authorities, but we must state here, that this current state of cul de sac and grave yard silence is an open invitation to power tussle, political imbroglio capable of destabilising the current government from actualisation of their campaign promises to our people.
“The desperation of members of the Presidency begs the question, if the President of Nigeria is healthy enough to receive guests stemmed from his political party’s leadership, why couldn’t he grant a live audience to multitude of Nigerians who thronged to demand that he addresses them.”
President Buhari has been in London since January 19. The presidency had first announced that he was there for a 10-day leave. But he has since extended the leave on medical grounds.

According to a report by USA Today, Sen. John McCain without ever mentioning President Trump by name, used a speech in Germany on Friday as an international platform in an apparent blast at his fellow Republican’s policies and worldview.
Speaking at the 2017 Munich Security Conference, McCain, R-Ariz., chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, warned the world leaders against isolationism. The so-called “think-tank” conference has met for the past five decades, drawing leaders for debate on international security challenges.
“My friends: In the four decades I have attended this conference, I cannot recall a year where its purpose was more necessary or more important,” he said.
“The next panel asks us to consider whether the West will survive. In recent years, this question would invite accusations of hyperbole and alarmism. Not this year. If ever there were a time to treat this question with a deadly seriousness, it is now. “
Trump, who rallied voters during the 2016 campaign with his America-first approach, has criticized NATO, calling it “obsolete” in a January interview with the U.K. news site The Times. Trump’s comments have alarmed European leaders and NATO ally countries.
McCain’s public bickering with Trump has heightened in recent weeks. At the summit, he called on world leaders to take seriously his fears over the president’s policies. According to a transcript posted on McCain’s website, the senator went on to target Trump’s signature enforcement orders and world view.
“What would von Kleist’s generation (the founders of the Munich conference) say if they saw our world today? I fear that much about it would be all-too-familiar to them, and they would be alarmed by it.
“They would be alarmed by an increasing turn away from universal values and toward old ties of blood, and race, and sectarianism.
“They would be alarmed by the hardening resentment we see toward immigrants, and refugees, and minority groups, especially Muslims.
“They would be alarmed by the growing inability, and even unwillingness, to separate truth from lies.
“They would be alarmed that more and more of our fellow citizens seem to be flirting with authoritarianism and romanticizing it as our moral equivalent.”
McCain finished his remarks on an optimistic note, calling on ally countries to join him in denouncing “adversaries” who aim to create divide.
“Make no mistake, my friends: These are dangerous times, but you should not count America out, and we should not count each other out,” he said. “We must be prudent, but we cannot wring our hands and wallow in self-doubt. We must appreciate the limits of our power, but we cannot allow ourselves to question the rightness and goodness of the West. We must understand and learn from our mistakes, but we cannot be paralyzed by fear. We cannot give up on ourselves and on each other. That is the definition of decadence. And that is how world orders really do decline and fall.
“This is exactly what our adversaries want. This is their goal. They have no meaningful allies, so they seek to sow dissent among us and divide us from each other. They know that their power and influence are inferior to ours, so they seek to subvert us, and erode our resolve to resist, and terrorize us into passivity. They know they have little to offer the world beyond selfishness and fear, so they seek to undermine our confidence in ourselves and our belief in our own values,” he said.

Metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy. During this complex biochemical process, calories in food and beverages are combined with oxygen to release the energy your body needs to function.
How To Boost Your Metabolism?
Sick and fed up of the slow metabolism you inherited from your ancestors?
Here is good news: you aren’t stuck with this kind of metabolism for the rest of your life. It can be changed! Research has shown that our metabolism can be tricked into changing so that it burns calories faster and more efficiently than it was doing. How awesome is that?
Some of the tips on this list are quite arduous, while others are easy-peasy hacks. But if you’re serious about boosting your metabolism and shifting some weight, you’ll take it all seriously.
Let’s have a look at 10 useful tips on how to boost your metabolism.
Be Intense
If you regularly go for a walk, a swim or even a jog or run, you might benefit if you ramp your intensity up a bit. Going harder for thirty-second intervals before returning to your usual speed means that you take in more oxygen, which then turns your cells into powerhouses that work harder at burning more energy. Score!
According to the experts, being more intense for just 30 seconds now and then during your workouts is an easy way of encouraging your cells to burn burn burn more efficiently throughout the rest of the day.
So stop going at your usual rate – go harder!
Eat Protein
Another good tip on how to boost your metabolism is to eat more protein. How much protein are you getting in the morning? The chances are that you need to add more.
Breakfast is a crucial meal for you right now as you seek to boost your metabolism. A high-fat breakfast is a big no-no that needs to be substituted with one rich in protein.
If your usual breakfast consists of pancakes and coffee, it’s time to swap for eggs and yogurt (preferably Greek).
Consume More Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Omega 3 fatty acids are awesome. But are you getting enough of them into your system?
Omega 3’s, which you can find most abundantly in the likes of salmon and walnuts, help to lower inflammation, control your blood sugar levels – and better regulate your metabolism. Win all-round.
Moreover, omega 3 fatty acids have also been linked to lowered resistance to leptin, a fat-causing hormone.
If you dislike both salmon and walnuts, it’s possible to consume omega 3 fatty acid supplements instead. They’re convenient, cheap and stuffed with lots of great benefits that will speed up your metabolism.
Cut Out Diet Soda
This is another great tip on how to boost your metabolism…I know, I know. You drink diet soda because you’ve always loved soda and have been convinced that diet soda is a lot healthier. Moreover, it means you don’t have to completely end your love affair with soda.
The bad news is that diet soda is bad for you, too. Sure, there are no calories, but the artificial sweetener in diet soda warps the way your metabolism usually responds to sugar in a very bad way.
It’s not conclusive, but research has suggested that there is a link between diet sodas and metabolism syndrome.
To be on the safe side, avoid diet sodas.
Do Some Strength Training
Got some dumbbells in your attic? Fantastic. If not, no worries – they don’t cost much money at all. And their benefits right now for you are amazing – they boost your metabolism.
Indeed, studies have shown that muscle weighs a lot more than fat. Not only this, but it also uses up more energy, too.
By doing some strength training, you can improve your resting metabolism by around one-hundred extra calories each day. How sweet is that?
This means that when you don’t fancy hitting the gym now and then, it’s hardly a problem.
Green Tea
Drinking green tea regularly is another fabulous tip on how to boost your metabolism.
Ah, green tea. The best thing in the world for some of us, and the most feared liquid ever for the rest. You just knew it’d be on this list, didn’t you?!
It’s true that green tea is an acquired taste and not everyone likes it. But its health benefits are numerous and moreover you can now buy flavoured green tea which tastes better and STILL comes with all the many benefits – including a boosted metabolism.
Research has indeed shown that dieters who drink lots of green tea lose more weight quicker than those who abstain from it. Experts think this is down to the catechins in green tea, which may (or may not) enhance thermogenesis and fat oxidation.
How your metabolism responds to green tea depends on how much you drink. Five cups a day should be enough to do the trick.
Cut Out Alcohol
As well as adding green tea to your diet, it’s also time to cut out alcohol. This is usually something many dieters struggle with, but if you start associating alcohol with pain (weight gain and a slow metabolism) as opposed to pleasure (fun with friends), you can easily cut it out of your life.
Not only does alcohol itself slow down our metabolism, it also encourages us to eat more calories. Booze is, after all, an aperitif.
Add Spices To Your Dishes
Next good tip on how to boost your metabolism is to add spices to your dishes. Spices are so easy to use and so tasty. Just sprinkle some on your soups, stir fries and scrambled eggs (and much more, too!).
Don’t Skip The Calories
Your metabolism is smart. No offence, but it’s probably smarter than you.
See, while you think you’re doing the right thing by skipping lots of calories now that you’re dieting, your metabolism has already identified a problem: If you’re consuming less calories, you’ll have less energy. Thus, your metabolism decides that it’s going to metabolise even slower so as to conserve more energy!
Drat! You simply can’t outwit it.
So keep eating your calories so that that your resting metabolic rate is at least matched.
Get Active
Seriously, nothing will boost your metabolism quite like activity. Take walks after meals. Instead of driving to the shop, walk to the shop. Start your day with a morning jog. Avoid elevators and take the stairs instead.
Little changes to your life such as these really will reward you with a faster metabolism that burns fat more efficiently. (Source: Beautyandtips.com)

Senator Dino Melaye has blamed the civil servants for hampering the impact of the change promised by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) through corrupt practices.
Melaye, speaking with the media in Abuja, said that change mantra was not about the APC as a political party but about the way Nigerians conduct themselves, Daily Post reports.
He said: “The change mantra is not about the All Progressives Congress (APC). The civil servants who are responsible for major corruption in the system are still the same people.”
“The message of change is not only to members of the APC. It is to Nigeria and Nigerians on how we conduct ourselves; and, how we operate government agencies and activities” he said.
The senator called on Nigerians to have attitudinal change as the country needed such to overcome the current economic recession.
“Nigerians, we must have attitudinal change, we must decide that the country is in recession now and we are approaching depression so we must begin to take the right steps inwardly,” he said.
The senator also urged civil servants in this country, politicians and those who find themselves in positions of authority to become born-again, and begin to act positively towards ameliorating the past.
