United States of America embassy in Nigeria yesterday denied claims that some Nigerians with valid travel documents were denied entry into the U.S and sent back on the next available flight, The Guardian reports.
It also stated that Nigeria was not in any way affected by the Executive Order on Immigration. While dismissing the allegation of refusal of entry into its country as untrue, the U.S urged Nigerians with valid visas, who intend to visit the country to feel free to do so and not postpone or cancel their planned trips.
The statement by the Information Office of the Embassy of the United States of America in Abuja, read in part: “The U.S. Embassy in Abuja wishes to clarify that there is no reason for Nigerians with valid visas to postpone or cancel their travel to the United States.
“Nigeria is not named in the Executive Order on Immigration issued on March 6, and there is no prohibition against Nigerian lawful permanent residents or persons with a valid visa or other U.S. government authorisation from entering the United States.”
Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Matters, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, had on Monday, advised Nigerians without urgent reasons to shelve their visits to the U.S pending a clearer immigration policy.
She had hinged her advice on the reports received by her office to the effect that some Nigerians with valid travel documents were denied entry into the U. S.
This was however, refuted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, on Tuesday that “We have absolutely no report whatsoever from the U.S. that our people are being turned back from the U.S. or any of our consulate or any Nigerian that any of our people are turned back.”
Meanwhile, the Italian government has deported 37 Nigerians over immigration-related offences. The deportees arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMlA), Lagos, on Tuesday night. The deportees, who were all males, were brought back in a chartered aircraft with registration number OM-IEX.
Spokesman of the Lagos Airport Police Command, DSP Joseph Alabi, confirmed the development yesterday.

Every woman dreams of having graceful arms without cellulite especially when you cannot hide them under clothing with long sleeves.
Catherine Chirioglo, Unica Sport instructor, has put together different exercises to get beautiful and graceful arms. To perform the exercises for arms you need two dumbbells 1 or 2 kg. If you do not have dumbbells, replace them with two 500 ml bottles of water.
Sculpted Arms
1. Start the exercise in orthostatic position with legs shoulder-width apart, knees bent to reduce the tension in your back. Flex the arms forward, so that to form an angle of 90 degrees between the arm and forearm.
2. From this position, extend your arms parallel to the ground and return to starting position.
Perform the exercise 20 times. These movements involve your back muscles and arms. Keep torso and legs fixed during the exercise. Inspire through the nose to relax and exhale through the mouth while contracting the muscles.
Arms Without Cellulite
1. Start the exercise in orthostatic position with legs shoulder-width apart. Flex the knees to reduce the tension in the back. Place both hands near the trunk.
2. From this position, raise a hand up, then bend it in the back so the elbow toward the ceiling.
Then extend it again and return to starting position.
You will feel the triceps muscle. Repeat the exercise 15 times and rest. Then repeat also 15 times with the other hand. Control your breathing. Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth.
Firm Arms
1. Start the exercise in orthostatic position with legs shoulder-width apart and flex knees at shoulder level, to diminish the load of the back. Raise your arms above your head.
2. In this position inhale through the nose, and while exhaling flex arms forward so that your elbows are pointing up. Then return to starting position.
Perform 20 repetitions with one hand, then with the other. If the effort is too big for you, take a break and then continue. This exercise trains the triceps muscle.
Toned Arms
1. Start the exercise in orthostatic position with legs shoulder-width apart and bent knees, to diminish the load in the back. Keep the right hand up and the other near the trunk.
2. In this position inhale through the nose, and while exhaling simultaneously flex both hands: the upper hand goes back and the lower hand, flexes the chest. Then return to starting position.
Perform the exercises for arms 10 times, and then change hands and repeat 10 times again. The exercise trains biceps and triceps muscles. Keep legs and torso fixed during the exercise.
Graceful Arms
1. Start the exercise in orthostatic position with legs shoulder-width apart. Flex knees at shoulder level to reduce the load in your back. Keep the arms bent laterally at 90 degrees.
2. From this position, raise your arms parallel to the ground and return to starting position.
Repeat the exercise 30 times and rest. You will feel the arms muscles. During the exercise, keep the trunk fixed and abdomen tensed. Control your breathing. Inhale through the nose when muscles are relaxed and exhale through the mouth at their contraction
Thin Arms
1. Start the exercise in orthostatic position with legs shoulder-width apart. Flex the knees at shoulder level to diminish the load in the back. Extend arms sideways, parallel to the ground with the palms facing upwards.
2. From this position, bend one hand, and then the other. Keep your elbows at the same level with the shoulders and abs contracted.
Alternate 20 times. These exercises for arms are aimed to train biceps.
These exercises for arms are especially useful for women who have thin arms with hanging skin.
Every woman dreams of having graceful arms without cellulite especially when you cannot hide them under clothing with long sleeves. Catheri...

Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday, lamented that the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing led by ex-Lagos Governor, Babatunde Fashola, is frustrating the state government’s plan to reconstruct the Lagos Airport Road from the Oshodi end.
He also said the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing is also frustrating the planned handover of the Presidential Lodge to Lagos long after Pres. Buhari approved the handing over of the project.
According to him, “The road linking Oshodi to the International Airport, you would all agree with me is a national embarrassment.
In the spirit of the regeneration and urbanisation that this administration has set out to achieve, we believe strongly that the image that is exhumed by the decadence of that road must be repaired and we took it upon ourselves to appropriate the 2017 budget that the House of Assembly should approve its total reconstruction.
The State currently has a design of 10 lanes to come from Oshodi to the International Airport with interchange and flyover that would drop you towards the Local Airport.
The contractor is already set to go and everything as I said has been completed and we already have the cash, but alas, we are having challenges with the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.
This is a Federal and not a State road. The Federal Ministry of Works believes that they should do the road, but they have not been able to do it all these years past.
I just want to remind Lagosians that prior to my becoming Governor, the Federal Ministry of Works has been owing Lagos State a total of N51billion as reimbursement for reconstruction that was carried out by the State Government on federal roads in the State.
It is only logical that they should even give us part of what they are owing us so that we can complete this construction of the Airport Road within a time of six months.
If they are not willing to pay us now, we have the money to do it. It is a national disgrace and we would not be part of it. We would like to do it as part of the celebration of Lagos at 50.”

International Women’s Day March 8, is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
International Women’s Day (IWD) has been observed since in the early 1900’s – a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies. International Women’s Day is a collective day of global celebration and a call for gender parity. No one government, NGO, charity, corporation, academic institution, women’s network or media hub is solely responsible for International Women’s Day. Many organizations declare an annual IWD theme that supports their specific agenda or cause, and some of these are adopted more widely with relevance than others.
“The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights,” says world-renowned feminist, journalist and social and political activist Gloria Steinem. Thus International Women’s Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action – whatever that looks like globally at a local level. But one thing is for sure, International Women’s Day has been occurring for well over a century – and continues to grow from strength to strength.
Here are five facts about the day:
1. Originally called International Working Women’s Day, it was first celebrated on February 28, 1909, in New York in remembrance of a 1908 strike of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union when 15,000 workers, including many immigrants, marched through the city’s lower east side to demand social and political rights.
2. The first modern International Women’s Day was held in 1914, five years after its inception, on March 8. The day was chosen because it was a Sunday, which the majority of women would have off work allowing them to participate in marches and other events, and has been celebrated on that date ever since.
3. The day was declared a national holiday in the Soviet Union in 1917, and was predominantly celebrated by the socialist movement and communist countries until it was adopted by the UN in 1977. Since 1996, the UN has assigned a theme to every IWD. This year’s theme is “Be bold for change”.
4. According to the UN, it is “a day when women are recognised for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. It is an occasion for looking back on past struggles and accomplishments, and more importantly, for looking ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women.”
5. The day is now an official holiday in several countries including Afghanistan, Cambodia, Mongolia, Vietnam and Zambia and for women only in countries including China, Madagascar and Nepal.( Source: internationalwomen’sday.com)

On Sunday, The Observer, a UK newspaper, said Britain was ready to rescue the Chibok girls after they conducted air reconnaissance over northern Nigeria for several months in a mission named Operation Turus, but the Jonathan administration declined.
“The girls were located in the first few weeks of the RAF mission. We offered to rescue them, but the Nigerian government declined,” a source involved in Operation Turus was quoted as saying.
But the former president denied it, saying the story was “concocted” by those “who have been playing politics with the issue of the abducted girls.”
“We are not surprised that this kind of concocted story is coming out at this point in time, as it appears that some people who have obviously been playing politics with the issue of the Chibok girls will stop at nothing to further their interest,” former president Goodluck Jonathan said in a statement.
On Tuesday, the British high commission in Abuja said the report that Jonathan turned down its offer to rescue the girls “was false.”
According to THISDAY, Mathew Rycroft, the ambassador, said he was briefed on the matter and the allegations were not true.
“The British High Commissioner briefed me on that today (Monday) and said that the allegations are not true,” Rycroft said.
In a statement further released by the commission read: “UK worked with the US and France to provide a range of military and intelligence support to the Nigerian government in their search (for the Chibok girls), and in fact, a wider effort to address the longer term challenge of terrorism.
But importantly, we won’t comment on specific additional details, which is a matter for the Nigerian government and the military.”
