Most girls have been through the frustrating process of trying to figure out how to make your hair grow faster at some point or another. There’s nothing worse than counting down the days to longer locks, only to find that your hair has grown a measly inch. You can load up on hair-strengthening shampoos and magic serums, but it turns out nothing works quite as well as
making your hair grow faster … from the inside . Just like with your skin, your hair is affected by your diet and the nutrients you consume.
“Vitamins and nutrients, like biotin, B vitamins, iron and zinc, promote healthy hair follicles and healthy hair growth,” says Dr. John Diaz, MD.
When it comes to encouraging hair growth, one particular nutrient to pay attention to is protein.
“Protein is a building block for every cell and tissue in our body, and hair is no different,” Rima Kleiner, MS, RD says to Bustle over email. “While our bodies make protein, it is important to consume protein-rich foods for optimal health, including hair health.”
Whether you fried your hair from too many heat products, you’re over this season’ choppy hair cut, or you just want to improve your hair health, try incorporating the following seven hair-healthy foods into your diet for longer, more luscious locks.
1. Nuts
Nuts such as almonds, walnuts, and pecans are a great source of biotin, a vitamin known to help promote hair growth .
“Biotin or Vitamin B7 is a coenzyme that provides energy to the body,” says Certified Nutritional Consultant Lori Kenyon Farley in an email. “In particular, it helps create healthy hair cells, leading to thicker, healthier hair.”
2. Oysters
Though they may not be the first food on your list, oysters are a great source of nutrients, including zinc, that can help give you those luscious locks you want.
“Oysters contain protein, iron, omega fatty acids, calcium, zinc and vitamin C,” says Dr. Diaz. “All of these vitamins and minerals are essential for healthy beautiful skin and hair.”
3. Eggs
Not only are eggs a delicious way to start your day, but they contain the protein, zinc, and iron that your hair and body needs.
“Zinc benefits for hair includes promotion of cell reproduction, tissue growth and repair of broken tissues,” Carla Rivas , hairstylist and co-founder of hair growth vitamin Hair La Vie, tells Bustle in an email. “It also maintains the oil-secreting glands that are attached to your hair follicles, thus decreasing their chances of falling out.
4. Salmon
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential nutrients for healthy hair and skin, and since your body can’t produce them on its own, it’s important you get these fatty acids from your diet. Eating two servings of fatty fish like salmon or tuna per week can help keep your hair full and long.
5. Chia and Flax Seeds
Fish isn’t the only way to get in your dose of omega-3s. “If you are staying away from animal products, try adding flax seeds or chia seeds to your smoothie,” says Farley. “These little babies will keep your locks looking shiny and healthy.”
6. Sweet Potatoes
Say yes to those sweet potato fries.
“Sweet potatoes are another wonderful food for hair growth due to their high dosage of beta carotene, the precursor of Vitamin A, which helps to keep hair from becoming dry and brittle,” says beauty expert Julie Ricevuto in an email.
7. Avocado
According to Livestrong.com, avocados are high in vitamin B and E , and fatty acids, preventing you from hair loss and breakage, strengthening your scalp, and providing that gleam and shine that most long hair girls desire.

According to a report by the Guardian, the progressive senator Elizabeth Warren accused Donald Trump of firing a prominent prosecutor to install “cronies”, warning on Sunday of “a massive fight” in the Senate over his picks for new US attorneys.
On Saturday, Trump fired Preet Bharara , the US attorney of the southern district of Manhattan, where the prosecutor had pursued corruption cases against members of both the Republican and Democratic parties. In November, Bharara met with Trump and his nominee for attorney general, Jeff Sessions, and said he had “agreed to stay on” after conversations with both.
But on Friday afternoon, Sessions abruptly ordered 46 prosecutors, nearly all appointees of Barack Obama, to resign “effective immediately”. Bharara refused to resign and was fired, saying in a brief public statement: “One hallmark of justice is absolute independence, and that was my touchstone every day that I served.”
New presidents typically replace the appointees named by their predecessors, but not since 1993 has a new administration done so in such a rapid, sweeping fashion. And late Saturday, an official speaking on condition of anonymity told the Associated Press that the sudden dismissal of Bharara was preceded by an unusual phone call from the White House to the prosecutor’s office.
On Thursday, the president’s secretary called Bharara, who declined to take the call because the justice department has strict rules about communications between Presidents and prosecutors. Bharara told Trump’s secretary he could not speak directly with the president.
The White House has declined to comment on why Trump fired Bharara after asking him to continue in his role. Warren seized on this ambiguity, tweeting on Sunday that Trump “talked a big game about getting corruption out of government. But he wants a bunch of tame prosecutors who won’t investigate him.”
“Preet Bharara had authority over Trump Tower,” she wrote, noting the US attorney’s jurisdiction over Manhattan, the Bronx and Westchester, New York. Trump “called him directly, breaching protocol”, Warren continued. “24 hours later he was asked to resign.”
“More GOP & Dems respect Preet Bharara as a fearless prosecutor who stands up to both parties & Wall Street. I guess that’s why Trump fired him,” she said, before drawing a comparison to Trump’s decision to fire Sally Yates. The president fired Yates , who was acting attorney general in the first weeks of his administration, after she refused to defend his executive order limiting travel, and after she warned Trump that his national security adviser had misled the White House about conversations with Russia’s ambassador.
Warren said the president “wants people like AG Sessions, a loyalist who lied to the Senate about meeting with the Russians”, alluding to Session’s failure, under oath , to disclose his own conversations with the ambassador.
“You can’t fire the rule of law,” Warren wrote. “You can’t shut down ongoing investigations by career prosecutors.”
“The Senate confirms US Attorneys. And you’re not replacing real prosecutors with cronies without a massive fight,” she added.
At the time of his dismissal, Bharara was overseeing separate investigations into the staffs of New York mayor Bill de Blasio and New York governor Andrew Cuomo, both leading critics of the Trump administration. His office had also opened an investigation into Fox News over a possible failure to inform shareholders of multimillion-dollar settlements with female employees who had accused Roger Ailes, the former CEO, of sexual harassment.
Over his seven years as US attorney for the southern district, Bharara prosecuted high-profile cases on financial hacking and insider trading and against JPMorgan Chase, Toyota and the billionaire investor Steven Cohen, earning the prosecutor the nickname “the sheriff of Wall Street”.

According to researchers, regular training, maintaining body weight within the normal range, avoiding obesity, and diets rich in fruits and vegetables reduce considerably the risk of cancerous diseases, including the risk of breast cancer!
Regular training protects against breast cancer
According to a study of Women’s Health Initiative, at least 1,5-2,5 hours of walking per week reduces the risk of female breast cancer by 18%, while a 10-hour dynamic physical activity per week, even more!
Why fight against excess weight and obesity?
Important! Obesity is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, specialists claim, whereas adipose tissue produces oestrogen hormone in menopause, which in excess can be responsible for the development of some types of tumours of mammary glands. In addition, obesity leads to high levels of insulin in the blood, also associated with the increased incidence of breast cancer. At the same time, according to experts, the fat stored in the abdomen and waist area is more offensive in this sense than that from the hips or thighs.
Low calorie diet is anticancer!
Research has determined that the incidence of breast cancer is much lower in countries where a low-calorie diet prevails, including healthy fats. The results of the studies underline the anticancer effect of fruits and vegetables in the diet. Diet rich in fruits and green, yellow, red, and orange vegetables reduces the risk of malign tumours.
Breastfeeding prevents mammary gland cancer
According to experts, breastfeeding, particularly prolonged until the age of 1,5-2 years or more, reduces the risk of malign tumours of mammary glands.
Alcohol in large quantities is responsible for the occurrence of breast cancer
Alcohol consumption is associated with an increased risk of developing breast cancer, in proportion to the quantity used. Thus, women who drink daily 2-5 alcoholic beverages are likely to develop breast cancer than those who do not drink alcohol at all, according to an American study.( Source: Unica Sports)

Novelist and feminist, Chimamanda Adichie has stirred a debate by saying it is difficult to equate trans-gender females to real women.
The writer shared her view on the issue in an interview with Cathy Newmand on U.K.’s Channel 4 News, which was aired on Friday. Adichie, who is promoting her new book Dear Ijeawele Or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions was asked during the interview whether it matters how you arrived at being a woman and whether trans-women can be considered real women , she explained it wasn’t difficult to accept that trans-gender females can be equated to real women.
She said , “ When people talk about trans- women , my feeling is that trans -women are trans-women . I think that if you entered the world as a man with the privileges that the world accord to men, and then sort of switch gender , it is difficult for me to accept that we can equate your experience with the experience of a woman who has lived from the beginning in the world as a woman and who has not been accorded those privileges .
“I don ’t think it is a good thing to conflate everything into one, I don’t think it is a good thing to talk about women ’s issues being exactly as the issues of trans -women.”
Her argument appears to stem from her idea that because many trans women have been assigned and raised male from birth until whatever point they decided to transition, she believes the male privilege they may have received fundamentally sets their experiences apart from those of cisgender women.
While she did also add that she supports transgender people’s existence, saying they should be “allowed to be,” she ultimately asserts that their experiences should not be “conflated” with women’s experiences.
Adichie, who is best known for her critically and commercially acclaimed book Americanah and a guest spot on Beyoncé’s track “Flawless,” was almost immediately called out on Twitter for her comments.

Philanthropist and Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh who recently spoke about her failed marriage to her estranged husband, Oladunni Churchill ...

Crime Officer at Madina Divisional Police Office in Ghana, Supt. Joseph Obbong has stated, in an interview with Ghanaian Joy News , that Tonto Dikeh gave misleading information to the public in her recent interview.
Tonto Dikeh had accused Churchill of assaulting her in Ghana and she had to run to the Nigerian Embassy.

He said Churchill was the one who filed a complaint at the police station.
Oppong further stated that neighbors confirmed she came in with a bottle of vodka around 3AM, most likely drunk, as she damaged properties worth $20,000, adding that she attested to doing this in her written statement.

There is a lot of misinformation about sex, sexual health and sexually transmitted disease (STD). Perhaps, you have heard of the famous myth of getting an infection from a toilet seat or that the most commonly-infected group of people are the sex workers? Although some of these beliefs sound true, not all are supported by facts or are just plain myths. Of course, the only way to be 100 percent safe is by abstaining from any forms of sex (vaginal, anal or oral). However, if you are a sexually active individual, you need to be informed and know what’s true—and what’s not.
Here are some of the things that people commonly get wrong about sexually transmitted disease:
Myth: You can get herpes from a toilet seat.
Fact: Herpes is transmitted through skin-to-skin contact.
The herpes simplex virus (HPV) is transmitted by direct skin-to-skin contact. Unless you and your partner had sex on a toilet seat, which is very unlikely, it’s impossible to catch an infection from the toilet According to Singapore health experts, transmission of the virus from a toilet seat falls under ‘generally impossible.’ So while you’re worrying whether the toilet is wet or dry to sit on, you can leave the worries of catching HPV behind.
Myth: A Pap test can serve as an STD test.
Fact: There are specific tests for STDs.
A Pap test is a test to specifically check a woman’s vagina or cervix for any presence of cancerous cells. While some STDs can be early signs of cancer and can be detected through fast STD test in Singapore, many do not and are often overlooked in this test. Some women assume that when they undergo a Pap test, they are also tested for STDs. To be sure, talk to your healthcare provider about STD testing and see what STD test he or she recommends for you.
Myth: It’s impossible to catch an STD by getting a tattoo, since it’s not like having sex.
Fact: Blood-borne infections can transfer through needle sharing.
If your tattoo is the sticker type one, then there should be no risk for STDs. However, if it is the permanent one that entails the use of needles, then you’re at serious risk for HIV and other blood-borne infections like hepatitis B and C. To avoid any possibility of infection, make sure that the instruments used for tattooing have been sterilized and disinfected, especially the equipment used to pierce or cut the skin. Ask the staff at the tattoo parlor about their tools and precautionary measures. They should unambiguously disclose these information to you; if not, get inked somewhere else.
Myth: You can get HIV from mosquitoes.
Fact: While mosquitoes suck blood, they do not transfer blood-borne infections.
HIV and other blood-borne infections are not transmitted by mosquitoes. Singapore researches about HIV and STDs have shown no evidence about transmission of diseases from mosquitoes or any other insects—even in places where there are higher cases of STDs and large population of mosquitoes.
Myth: Only prostitutes get infected with STDs.
Fact: STDs do not discriminate.
Rich and poor people can get STDs. Athletes and mathematicians can also get infected. CEOs and ordinary employees can also catch them. Even a virgin who is having sex for the first time can get infected. The only people who are safe from STDs are those who have not had any kind of sexual contact in their lives. What can you do to stay safe? Use condom every time you’re having sex, and get screened regularly.
Myth: You will know it if your partner has STD.
Fact: Most of the time, there’s no sign that a person is infected.
Even your partner cannot detect presence of STD in his system unless he submits himself for an STD testing. STDs do not always show symptoms, and it is possible to spread the virus without experiencing an outbreak. If left untreated, infections can cause serious reproductive problems, like infertility or pelvic inflammatory disease, and may cause difficulty in getting pregnant or during the pregnancy stage.
Myth: Anal or oral sex is the way to go to avoid STDs.
Fact: As long as there’s sex (vaginal, oral, or anal), there’s risk for STDs.
The bacteria and viruses that cause STDs can infect the body by entering through microscopic cuts and tears in the genital, rectum, and mouth. Some infections, like genital warts and herpes, can be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact with a sore or an infected area. Whether it is oral or anal sex, it is safer to use a dental dam or condom to avoid direct skin-to-skin contact. If you can’t handle the taste of latex, there are flavoured condoms specifically made for added pleasure during oral sex.
Myth: Once you catch an STD, you will get immune to it.
Fact: It is possible to get infected more than just once.
Viral infections, like HIV and herpes, stay in your system once you get them; while bacterial infections, like gonorrhoea and chlamydia, can be cured with antibiotics. However, it is possible to catch them again if you get in contact with an infected person. Using condoms or other barrier method will keep you safe from contracting an STD, as well as undergoing regular STD screening for early detection and better chances of cure.
Myth: As long as you’re STD-free, your partner does not need to get checked.
Fact: If your partner has had partner(s) before you, he should get checked.
Who wants to waste all their efforts from going through regular STD testing, keeping themselves as healthy as possible, and then ending up catching an infection from a partner anyway? The best you can do is to get tested together. This may not be your idea of romantic date, but nothing says ‘I care’ better than trying to protect your beloved from a potentially fatal illness.
There are more myths out there about STDs, and the ones we have stated above are just a few and the most common of them. The most important point here is to get an STD test regularly. While these illnesses may cause embarrassment for many of us, it is more important to remember that many of these infections can be life-threatening if left unattended. If detected and treated early, damages are minimized and infertility issues (or even death) can be avoided.
