Nigeria has a very dynamic system, the way and manner certain issues are handled in Nigeria is way different from what is obtainable in the rest of the world
Below are 6 recent events which highlight the strange nature of Nigeria, especially as regards polity.
1. 350million for Ibori’s party by Okowa
About a month ago, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state allegedly ordered the release of the sum of N350 million for the celebration and welcome party of “ex-convict” and former governor of Delta state, Chief James Ibori.
Of course, it is only in Nigeria that such a party can be held for someone who has been termed an “ex-con”.
2. Senator Dino Melaye saga
It definitely has to be only in Nigeria that lawmakers would saddle themselves with the academic records of a serving Senator, this tells a lot about our educational system and the porous nature on which so much operates in Nigeria.
3. From prison to palace – Obasanjo, Orji , Ibori
That there is a possibility Mr James Ibori will return to politics, is not strange for there have been others like him who have been to jail and went on to be leaders of the nation in different sectors.
4. N111 million given to INEC in Rivers state
Few weeks back, The Nigerian police allegedly recovered the sum of N111 million allegedly used by River state’s Governor Nyesom Wike to bribe INEC Officials.
The investigative committee of the Nigerian police reportedly recovered over N111 million from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials arrested after the Rivers state election rerun.
Where on God’s earth can such a huge recovery be made? This raises questions on how elections are run and won in Nigeria. The INEC is working assiduously though to see that elections become absolutely free and fair.
5. Illegal importation of guns
About 2-months-ago, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) explained how it intercepted and seized a massive weapons haul of 661 brand new pump-action rifles in Lagos state.
In a press statement delivered by the Comptroller-General of NCS Hameed Ali at a briefing in Lagos on Monday, January 30, the outfit said the guns were intercepted on Sunday, January 22.
The statement read: “On Sunday 22nd January 2017, the Roving Team of the NCS Federal Operations Unit while on information patrol intercepted a Mack truck with registration number BDG 265 XG conveying a 1x40ft Container with Number: PONU/825914/3along Mile 2 Apapa road.
The truck was immediately taken to the premises of FOU Zone A,Ikeja where Physical examination revealed 49 boxes containing a total number of 661 pieces of pump action rifles concealed with steal doors and other merchandize goods.”
6. N9.8m stored in Bunkers of former NNPC boss
One of the major highlights of the Buhari-led administration is the war against graft, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been doing a great job.
Recently, the EFCC recovered $9.8million in cash from a secret bunker owned by Dr Andrew Yakubu who is a former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The Buhari-led government came in complaining that within the 16-year rule of the Peoples Democratic Party, so much was stolen from the national purse.
It is only now that the government has taken a firm stand on corruption, corrupt officials and corrupt practices in the country.
We can only hope that as the war against graft continues, Nigeria would experience the desired change which is aimed at restoring the nation to its former glory. Source: Naij.com

You may presume that illness is to blame for that headache, your frequent insomnia, or your reduced productivity at work. But stress may actually be the cause.
Understanding the mechanics of stress and how stress affects the body gives you the advantage of being more aware of and sensitive to your own level of stress and knowing when and how to take proactive steps.
The human body doesn’t distinguish between a big stress and a small one. Regardless of the significance, stress affects the body. A standard stress reaction, which most of us feel dozens of times daily, begins with an avalanche of 1,400 biochemical events in your body. If these reactions are left untreated, we age prematurely, our cognitive function is weakened, and our energy is lowered.
Stress causes “cortical inhibition”, according to researchers. The phenomenon of cortical inhibition helps to explain why smart people often do stupid things. In other words, stress inhibits a small part of your brain and you can’t function at your best.
Common effects of stress
Indeed, stress can affect your body, your mind and feelings, and your behaviour. Stress that’s left untreated can lead to high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.
When speaking about how stress affects the body particularly, it can lead to various disorders, such as:
– Headaches,
– Muscle tension or pain;
– Chest pain;
– Fatigue;
– Stomach upset;
– Sleep problems etc.
If you have stress symptoms, taking steps to manage your stress can have numerous health benefits.
You can manage stress by opting for the following activities:
• Physical activity
• Relaxation techniques
• Meditation
• Yoga
We don’t need to be victims to our own feelings, thoughts, and viewpoints. We can control how stress affects the body, and how we respond to stress.
And make sure to get plenty of sleep, have a balanced diet, and avoid tobacco use and excess caffeine and alcohol intake in order to avoid stress.(Source: UnicaSports)

According to the latest Gallup Poll, Donald Trump recorded the lowest approval rating of any president in their first year with 35 percent.
In a breakdown of Trump’s approval rating from March 20 through Sunday March 26, Gallup said Trump’s approval rating among men has fallen 7 percent — from 51 percent in early March to 44 percent on Sunday.
This represents the largest decrease in major subgroups.
Trump’s approval rating among women saw a smaller decrease from 36 percent to 34 percent.
Based on a three-day rolling average as at Wednesday, the poll shows 35 percent of Americans approve of the job Trump is doing as president, while 59 percent disapprove.
The only former U.S. president to fall below a 40 percent approval rating in their first year was Bill Clinton .
“Already a trendsetter by earning the lowest initial job approval rating of any president and falling below 40 percent approval in record time, Trump’s recent 35 percent and 36 percent approval ratings are the lowest of any president in his first year,” Gallup wrote in a statement.
“What ensues will depend not only on Trump’s management of his administration and relations with Congress, but also on his relationship with the media and, possibly most importantly, real-world economic and national security conditions that Trump can only partly control.”
The poll is based on telephone interviews of about 1,500 U.S adults and has a 3 percent margin of error.
Trump’s approval rating decreased in all major subgroups, such as political party affiliation, age and education, in the same time range.
The subgroup Gallup poll, which has a 2 percent margin of error, is based on telephone interviews of about 3,546 U.S. adults.

After much speculation and anxious waiting, A few days ago, Wizkid announced another collaboration with Drake , which was titled “Come Closer ” and fans were ready to hear another smash from the two. Following last year’s hit “One Dance,” this song finds Drizzy and the Nigerian whiz in top form again — not that they ever let up.
Blending pop sounds, Dancehall reggae-like beats and afrobeat, turns out the song is the official version of the previously played “Hush Up The Silence ” that premiered on OVO Sound Radio a few months ago.
Wizkid sings to his lady to “come closer:” he’s got sweet little nothings to share with her. The 6 God jumps on the track, singing in his trademark borrowed Jamaican accent in the second minute. Wizkid is absolutely fire on this. It’s a track you got to dance to with somebody else.
Now he has released the official and CDQ version of the Dancehall inspired song.

Bookkeeping is often used for handling business finances, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use it for personal purposes. Just like how it helps businesses in Singapore, bookkeeping can provide the same benefits on your personal finances in ways mentioned below.
1. It helps achieve your goals
If you’re saving up for a house, a car or a dream vacation or are paying debts, it helps to keep track of your finances and budget your income easily. Keeping track of every bit of expense and knowing what’s at stake for every unplanned purchase will keep you focused on why you shouldn’t spend extra on a Starbucks coffee or why there’s no need to buy yourself a new bag when the current one is still fine.
2. It keeps track of where your money goes
Bookkeeping helps you solve the mystery of how you spend your money on a daily basis. Keeping records of your day-to-day expenses is necessary before you’ll be able to budget your money. A spreadsheet can help track and categorize your expenses; just make sure to list the things you bought at the end of the day. You can collect receipts of purchases or take a photo of them for easier recording later. Do the same for monthly statements and household bills.
3. It keeps track of your income
After identifying your expenses, do the same on your sources of income. Your income could be from your work, a part-time job or your parents. This will give you a clearer picture of your financial status, and makes you more efficient in managing your finances to ensure you’re living within your means with savings you can turn to in case of emergency.
4. Determine if your expenses is within or over the budget
Bookkeeping is something you do regularly, so you’re able to determine right away if you’re spending within your means or whether you have extra to treat yourself. If the records say that you’re over the budget, adjust accordingly. Minimize unnecessary expenses and utilize your income wisely until you’re clear of debt.
Controlling and monitoring your personal finances is much easier when using bookkeeping methods. As simple as maintaining a record of your day-to-day expenses, you can keep track of your expenditure and be able to decide what unnecessary purchases to avoid to save more or determine whether you need more sources to help increase income.(Source: Business Talk)

Foods that cause inflammation can lead to severe conditions, such as cancer, acne, and heart disease.
Inflammation is one of the body’s natural immune responses. When a foreign invader – such is an infection or injury – enters the body, it responds with an inflammatory counterattack. While you may recognize inflammation when you sprain your ankle and it swells – that type of inflammation is localized. However, it can also be systemic, having an effect on your internal organs.
The good news is you can control a number of the factors that cause inflammation. Getting plenty of sleep, quitting smoking, if you do, and having regular exercises will make a difference. The same situation is with diet.
So, take a look at the foods that cause inflammation so you can avoid them!
1. Processed and fried foods
Reducing processed and fried foods can lower your inflammation levels and restore your body’s natural defences. In this context, you should avoid processed foods that cause inflammation like cooked frozen meals and fried foods like fried meats. Instead, opt for more fruits and vegetables.
2. Vegetable oil
Many vegetable oils are high in omega-6 fats, lowering your body’s critical balance of omega-3 to omega-6 fats. When your body gets out of balance, inflammation can result. It is recommended cooking with just a tiny amount of coconut oil (it provides medium chain fatty acids). You can also use olive oil in small amounts as it is monounsaturated oil.
3. Dairy products
Dairy can cause inflammation because your body recognizes it as a foreign invader and fights it with an inflammatory response. Dairies are highly inflammatory for the majority of the population, in particular full-fat dairy products, cheese, butter, and ice cream.
4. Refined grains
These should be avoided altogether, along with fortified and sweetened grains. Try to eat pasta once a week, and avoid refined grains found in pizza, white bread, and cereals.
5. Tropical fruits
Because they typically have a higher fructose content than other fruits, eating mangoes, bananas, oranges, papayas, and pineapples should be limited to once a week for people with diabetes. Tropical fruits might be hard for you to digest.(Source: UnicaSports)

Stephanie Otobo, a Canadan-based Nigerian lady who claimed to have been in a sexual relationship with Apostle Johnson Suleman has said he is desperate to stop the truth from eventually coming out.
The alleged ex mistress of the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries (OFM) Worldwide, Apostle Johnson Suleman , has released another video from Canada, after her mother and elder sister, last Sunday visited OFM to apologise to Suleman and ask for his forgiveness.
Suleman had also said he had forgiven Stephanie from his heart. He told his congregation not to comment on the issue again.
She said Suleman has been so desperate, adding that he wouldn’t have “humiliated” her family if she was a “prominent person’s daughter.”
“I know my God is stronger than you. My God has more connections than you,” she says.
She alleged that Suleman transported his mother with private cars from Delta state to Auchi, Edo State, where the headquarters of his church is located.
“You are just a man, an ordinary man. I have seen your nakedness. You are like an agbero, like a vulture. You are so skinny like a rat. I am not scared of you,” Stephanie said.
She said that she is standing on the truth. “The truth will come out,” she adds.
Stephanie said: “I place a curse on you that shame and destruction with come upon you for this you’ve done. I am fighting for every Christian out that must have been abused by you. The God of truth will send his fire to destroy you to say the truth.”

The Federal Government on Wednesday asked Indian Government to ensure the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for attacks of Nigerian students in an Indian university.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Olushola Enikanolaiye, made the call in Abuja at a meeting on the issue with the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Amb. Nagabushana Reddy.
4 Nigerian students were attacked by a mob during a candle-light march for a 17-year-old Indian boy, who died of suspected drug overdose. It was alleged that Nigerians masterminded the death of the boy.
Enikanolaiye said the call for the prosecution of culprits was necessary to serve as a deterrent to others and to forestall future occurrences. He said that the High Commissioner was invited to register the FG’s concern over the incident.
Enikanolaye said that contrary to the report that Nigerians masterminded the boy’s death, the boy who was said to be on drugs and must have had an overdose of it which might have led to his death in a hospital.
He expressed concern that the incident was not the first of its kind as Nigerians had been attacked in the past by Indians. “This is not the first time this would happened; Nigerians have suffered similar attack in the past; so, what we will like to see on this occasion is that the perpetrator should be arrested.
And we want to see diligent prosecution so that it would serve as a deterrent to those who think they can take laws into their hands and harass students who are going about their studies.”

Ivanka Trump will take an official government role as an unpaid adviser to her father US President Donald Trump, the White House announced on Wednesday.
As reported by Al Jazeera, the first daughter, whose husband Jared Kushner also works as a senior advisor to the president, will not receive a salary for her work as a federal employee. Kushner, a real estate developer, is also unpaid.
“We are pleased that Ivanka Trump has chosen to take this step in her unprecedented role as first daughter and in support of the president,” a White House statement said.
“Ivanka’s service as an unpaid employee furthers our commitment to ethics, transparency, and compliance and affords her increased opportunities to lead initiatives driving real policy benefits for the American public that would not have been available to her previously.”
In the couple of months since her father became president Ivanka, 35, has been a regular presence at the White House, where she already has an office.
She was present when her father received Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in January, and earlier this month took part in a round-table discussion with President Trump and Chancellor Angela Merkel during the German leader’s visit to the White House.
Ivanka Trump has been a regular presence at the White House, where she already has an office, since her father became president.
Her involvement with her father’s official duties has raised eyebrows in some quarters over possible conflicts of interest.
But Ivanka, who was part of her father’s business empire and ran a fashion line, said those qualms are unfounded.
“I have heard the concerns some have with my advising the president in my personal capacity while voluntarily complying with all ethics rules, and I will instead serve as an unpaid employee in the White House Office, subject to all of the same rules as other federal employees,” she said in a statement.
“Throughout this process I have been working closely and in good faith with the White House Counsel and my personal counsel to address the unprecedented nature of my role.”
Neither Kushner nor Ivanka Trump has any experience in elected office or public policy.
In addition to raising questions over possible conflicts of interest, the young couple’s influence on the president has fueled broader debate on the absence of clear boundaries between the Trump family’s business dealings and its member’s political activities.
Ivanka Trump’s lawyer, Jamie Gorelick, told the news website Politico last week that the president’s daughter will have access to classified information and be bound by the same rules that apply to other White House advisers who are on the government payroll.
“Our view is that the conservative approach is for Ivanka to voluntarily comply with the rules that would apply if she were a government employee, even though she is not,” Gorelick told the outlet.
Inside Story – Will conflicts of interest drag down President Donald Trump?
“Having an adult child of the president who is actively engaged in the work of the administration is new ground.”
Part of the novelty stems from the fact that relatives of elected officials cannot legally be hired for most federal jobs due to potential conflicts of interests.
Yet Trump succeeded in getting Kushner on board at the White House by arguing that the executive office of the president was not covered by federal anti-nepotism rules. Kushner said that by putting his interests in a trust, and not being paid for the job, he could avoid the rule.
Kushner’s family business has invested some $7bn in property acquisitions in the past decade, often with overseas partners – and his father-in-law now is formally in charge of financial regulation.
Two Democratic senators, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Tom Carper of Delaware, sent a letter to the Office of Government Ethics on Wednesday saying that Ivanka Trump’s “increasing, albeit unspecified, White House role resulted in substantial confusion,” and questioned how her ethics compliance would be ensured.
