A musician and also a photographer who has captured iconic images, Bello shares her full and true story in the fifth episode of Kemi Adetiba’s King Women.
She takes something as abstract as spirituality, and moulds it into something special, practical and personal to her.
Before becoming the celebrated Photographer everyone is familiar with, she was once a hair dresser who picked up money from the floor.
An interview based series by Adetiba, “King Women” features Nigeria’s powerful women of veteran and champion status, as they tell their stories, like never heard before.
“King Women” is a web series aimed at being an online source of mentorship and emotional upliftment to young ladies, and will feature women of varying ages, who have achieved success in various walks of life.
The singer and photographer, says she was molested as a child and that it had a negative effect on her during her formative years. The Greenland singer shared this with Kemi Adetiba.
“I was sexually abused as a child and because of this, I felt like there was something ugly about me that made me encounter this. This was not the abuser’s fault, this was me.
I used to see other girls as flowers and I saw myself as dirty cement, hard and ugly. I never felt beautiful, everything was wrong with me, I was hairy and it was a problem.
I always attributed everything that was about me to be the reason someone took advantage of me. I thought there was something wrong with me because if the others girls were like me perhaps they would be dirty like me but they were flowers.
When a friend told me about salvation, she told me old things would be passed away and all things will become new. It was as if God could wash away that stench and I would become a girl because I didn’t feel like a girl.
I was shocked when I grew up and found that one out every three or four girls in my secondary school had suffered the same thing and I could tell them the same thing… that old thing can pass away.
It was a relief to find that I was not the only one and a shock that nobody talks about it. That’s why salvation worked, I had a daddy and I was going to be a flower.”

Anthony Joshua is set to have a stadium named after him in Nigeria. The Sagamu International Stadium is set to honour Joshua following his 11th round stoppage of Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley on Saturday night.
Yinka Mafe, the majority leader of the State House of Assembly in the Ogun State government in Nigeria, was among those who watched Joshua’s win in an open air viewing event.
Joshua’s parents hail from the Ogun State region of Nigeria. According to ESPN , Mafe has vowed to rename the stadium after Joshua, while the popular Cinema Street will also bear his name.
Joshua’s great grandfather, Omo-Oba Daniel Adebambo Joshua, built the cinema that sits on the road during the 1950s. “We are proud of what he has achieved as a son of Sagamu, and we will be happy to do our own little bit to show our appreciation and support for him,” Mafe said.
His family has given to the state in the past, now the state wants to give back to him.

Speaking at his church service on Sunday 30th April 2017, Prophet T.B. Joshua disclosed his intention to leave Nigeria and relocate his ministry to the nation of Israel, where he recently held meetings with three prominent Israeli mayors of Jerusalem, Tiberias and the Jordan Valley.
TB Joshua said Israel offered him both land and facilities in an area around the biblical site of the Sea of Galilee, to organise meetings for international pilgrims. “This is where my Father in Heaven came from it’s non-negotiable,” Joshua explained.
“It’s the best place for you to meet Prophet T.B. Joshua. After your healing, blessing and deliverance, you can move around all the spiritual monuments which will establish your faith,” he clarified.
Joshua said his decision to leave was not connected to the “persecution” he endured during his ministry. He said the move would help people to “appreciate” what his ministry had been contributing to both the local economy and Nigeria’s international image.
“This is the most persecuted ministry in the world. Who are the people persecuting the ministry? My people, Africa. That is why I choose to live a lonely life. I don’t go out. It has not been easy – because I don’t know who is a friend or who is an enemy.
Anytime you pray, remember Africa in prayer. Many heroes and great people have been chased out of Africa. There are many geniuses in the Western world who are originally from Africa.”
The cleric pointed to the example of heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua who was allegedly turned down by Nigerian sporting authorities when he wanted to represent the country.
“What happened to me from the beginning of my ministry is enough to chase me out of this country – but I am still in your midst. Upon the persecution and hatred. I decided to follow the path of love.
You show hatred; I show love. When I go for a revival, you will see the stadium full but I am not carried away by that. I leave where I’m celebrated to live where I’m persecuted. Where you are not celebrated is the best place to stay, to get strength,” he added.

Big Brother Niger exhousemate, TBoss is finally talking about the sexual assault that stirred major controversy during and after the just-concluded Big Bother Nigeria Show.
In a new interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Rubbin’ Minds, the reality star revealed that the disqualified housemate Kemen has been making efforts to reach her since the show ended but she kept him at bay because she is angry with the way he has handled his interviews since the show ended.
TBoss, real name is Tokunbo Idowu, also addressed the AY Makun’s conduct at the AY Live concert as well as former Presidential Aide Reuben Abati’s article.
See the excerpts as culled from LIB:
On her incidence with Kemen, she said:
“I considered Kemen a friend. He was my go-to guy. He was my buddy, my muscle. He encouraged me. He motivated me. So for what happened to have happened considering all the people that look up to me, it was sad. I was angry. I was humiliated and I did feel violated but I don’t play the victim card. I honestly think that the decision that Big Brother took was the only decision that could have been taken. And everything that Kemen has to say about that, na him get him mouth, e fit use am talk wetin him wan talk but he knows and we know.”
On her relationship with Kemen since the show ended:
“I have seen him a few times but I really don’t want to talk to him because honestly the day you (Ebuka) came into the house with Karen, I was thinking what would happen if I see Kemen because I thought there would be a party after then. I just wanted to slap him. I think I even said that but then I came out and I said you know what everyone can make mistake because I am an attractive person but then, I come out and I hear the interviews he has given, today he makes an apology and then tomorrow he comes out to say TBoss knows what happened and that if there was no N25 million involved, hopefully she would tell the truth. What truth are you talking about? You are contradicting yourself. And then you are calling me? He has called me like over 15-20 times but I don’t want to speak to him. I am not ready because if I talk, I would say the wrong things. I want to calm down”.
On AY Makun’s joke:
“I totally feel it was insensitive of him. It was very insensitive because like I said, I have a lot to say. Everyone who watched the show knows I am a very emotional person and I am very sensitive and this is not something that can be overlooked or joked about. I see the comments. I sneak into my Instagram and see the comments and I am like look, you are a female. This could have happened to you. This probably has happened to you. This incident was on camera. People saw it and people still chose to make light of this situation and make a joke out of it. If I consent to you touching me, that doesn’t mean I consent to you kissing me or going the extra mile. if you do that to me on international tv and someone out there feels it is content for a joke, its unfair. You do not have to have a daughter or a sister or any female that is close to you for you to know that what went down was not ok. You just made a mockery of my emotions and my pain. That was insensitive”.
On Reuben Abati:
“That was sad, that was just sad. Coming from someone of that calibre”.

Getting your beauty sleep is vital, but what you do before you sleep off makes a difference in your complexion too. These quick pre-bedtime tips will leave your skin smoother and more radiant by the time you wake up.
1. Cleanse twice every night
This is because twelve- to 24-hour foundations, mascaras, eyeliners, and eyeshadows are all made with polymers that don’t readily dissolve with soap and water or waterbased makeup remover. So to make sure everything comes off your face, cleanse the face twice.
2. Exfoliate your skin
If your skin looks dull and lifeless, chances are dead skin cells are to blame.
To keep these dead cells away, use an alpha hydroxy acidbased cleanser at least twice a week, which will leave you with glowing, smooth skin. If you’re double cleansing, make this your second step.
3. Give your skin moisture
Moisturisers plump up the skin, softening the appearance of fine lines and creating a smoother appearance.
Plus, they soothe your skin after you exfoliate. At bedtime, apply a moisturiser. It will help tighten your skin.
4. Sleep on your back
If you fall asleep on your stomach or side, pillows and sheets can leave not-so-pretty indentations on your cheeks when you wake up in the morning.
Even worse, can lead to wrinkles. Sleeping on your back, not only keeps your face free of fine lines, but it also props your head up just so to keep fluids from pooling in your eyes and creating unsightly bags and preventing under-eye puffiness.
5. Use cold eye cream
You may already be applying your eye cream religiously, but I bet you did not know it works better when it’s cold.
Keep your eye cream in the refrigerator and apply before going to bed to decrease morning puffiness.
6. Exfoliate your lips
If you want to wake up with soft, kissable lips, just use a lip scrub before heading to bed.
After rinsing it off, use a lip balm that will moisturise your exfoliated lips while you sleep.

Each year, people across the globe take to the streets to commemorate International Workers’ Day, or May Day.
In dozens of countries, May Day is an official holiday, and for labour rights campaigners it is particularly important.
In the United States, it is symbolic of past labour struggles against a host of workers’ rights violations, including lengthy work days and weeks, poor conditions and child labour.
Why is International Workers’ Day on May 1?
In the late-19th century, socialists, communists and trade unionists chose May 1 to become International Workers’ Day.
The date was symbolic, commemorating the Haymarket affair, which took place in Chicago, in the US, in 1886.
For years, the working class – often forced to work up to 16 hours a day in unsafe conditions – had been fighting for an eight-hour workday.
Then, in October 1884, the Federation of Organized Trades and Labour Unions of the United States and Canada decided that May 1, 1886, would mark the first day that an eight-hour workday would go into effect.
When that day arrived, between 300,000 and a half-million American workers went on strike in cities and towns across the country, according to various historians’ estimates.
Chicago, which was the nucleus of the struggle, saw an estimated 40,000 people protest and strike.
Until May 3, the strike was well-coordinated and largely nonviolent.
But as the end of the workday approached, striking workers in Chicago attempted to confront strikebreakers at the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company. Large police contingents were protecting the strikebreakers, and officers opened fire on the striking workers, killing at least two.
As the police attempted to disperse the protesters on May 4 in Chicago’s Haymarket Square, a bomb was thrown at them, killing seven officers and at least four civilians.
Police subsequently rounded up and arrested eight anarchists, all of whom were convicted of conspiracy. A court sentenced seven to death and one to 15 years imprisonment. Four were hanged, one committed suicide rather than face the gallows and two had their sentences commuted to life in prison.
Those who died are regarded by many on the left, including both socialists and anarchists, as the “Haymarket Martyrs”.
The Haymarket affair galvanised the broader labour movement.
In 1889, the Second International, the international organisation for workers and socialists, declared that May 1 would from then on be International Workers’ Day.
In the US, however, the eight-hour work day wasn’t recognised until it was turned into law in 1916, after years of strikes, protests and actions in favour of it.
What should you expect in 2017?
With a growing protest movement against the policies of US President
Donald Trump and increasing clashes between his supporters and opponents, there will be large demonstrations in several US cities, including New York, Chicago, Seattle and Washington, DC, among others.
In recent weeks, clashes between anti-fascist, or Antifa, activists and Trump supporters have increased in frequency and intensity. Two weeks ago in Berkeley, California, pro- and anti-Trump demonstrators fought in the streets, leading to multiple arrests and injuries.
On Monday, organisers from Movimiento Cosecha, an immigrant rights campaign, say an estimated 400,000 workers have committed to strike in the US.
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), a left-wing organisation, and several anarchist and anti-fascist groups plan to hold protests in New York City and elsewhere.

The Metropolitan Anarchist Coordinating Council (MACC), a New York City-based umbrella group, called for a mass anti-fascist and anti-capitalist bloc to stand in solidarity with immigrants, workers and prisoners.
Before the planned protests, police in Seattle, Washington, have prepared for violent confrontations. A police official says anti-Trump sentiment is likely to fuel the protests and lead to confrontations between his supporters and opponents.
“I think there’s a great opportunity for crowd on crowd conflict,” Seattle Police Capt. Chris Fowler said on Friday, according to local news. He said the police were preparing by practising crowd control techniques and the formation of barriers.
Protests are expected to be held in several countries across the globe.
In Nazareth, hundreds of Palestinian citizens of Israel, mostly from the local communist party, already marched to commemorate May Day on Saturday.

Most of us are aware that we should take good care of our heart, lungs and, even, our teeth. Our bodies are complex though, and are made up of many more parts than that. Our overall health is the sum of the specific health of all of our body parts, so it’s important that we do our part to give each and every piece of us the attention and care it needs.
Here are three parts of your body that are important to care for, but that you may not be providing with enough attention:
1. The Skin.
Our skin is our largest organ and it also takes the hardest beating. It’s what protects everything on the inside from the harshness of our environment. Not all skin is created equally, however. People have various skin types and tolerances to stressors.
If you aren’t going to do anything else to care for your skin, invest in a high-quality, daily sunscreen — and wear it every single day. Even if you never sunbathe a day in your life, part of your skin is exposed to the sun at some point every day. It doesn’t take long at all to begin causing sun damage.
Beyond sun care, you should focus on cleansing and exfoliating your skin regularly. You don’t have to scrub with the vigor of cleaning an oven, but you do want to remove dead skin cells and dirt so that the new skin can breathe and flourish. Moisture is also important to skin health, so be sure to apply a good moisturizer consistently.
2. The Liver.
Look at the word “liver.” “Live” is right there in the word. We can’t live without this vital organ, so ignoring its care and health is an act of folly. The liver is responsible for aiding in digestion and metabolism, as well as for filtering toxins out of our blood.
Many things can bog down the liver and make it unhealthy. Heavy drinking, excessive sugar consumption, smoking and, even, caffeine can put a large strain on the liver and lead to disease. Try to give up habits that are unhealthy for this organ. Get help for addictions, such as alcohol detox, if you can’t do it alone.
As for daily things you can do to help your liver stay healthy, start with drinking lots of water and keeping a close eye on your fat consumption. Give it plenty of protein, so that it can function at its best, along with a good dose of vitamins from fruits and vegetables. Try to incorporate foods that aid the liver in detoxification, such as garlic, mushrooms and broccoli.
3. The Feet.
We are all guilty of taking our feet for granted. But our feet are the cornerstone of our body and our primary mode of transportation, therefore, taking proper care of our feet is imperative.
Wearing ill-fitting or non-supportive footwear, for example, can lead to chronic back pain along with aching feet. Purchase shoes because they fit comfortably and provide adequate support, not only because they look pretty.
You should also deal with wounds on the feet right away and care for them diligently, until they heal. Feet, after all, can be dirty places, so injuries in this area can quickly lead to infection or other problems. Even when not injured, however, you should take care in cleansing your feet daily lest you run into problems with fungus.
Finally, respect the feet. They can tell you a great deal about the overall health of your body. If you have diabetes, foot care is all the more important, because improper circulation can lead to major complications.
Don’t neglect any part of your body, no matter how insignificant you think it may be to your overall health. Where one part is unwell, the whole is unwell. Love and nurture your body — it’s the only one you’ll ever have!
Stay healthy!
