Whether you’re growing out a short haircut, a bad haircut, or just desire longer hair, the process of the grow out is painful and slow. The average person’s hair grows approximately 1/2 inch per month. It’s no wonder that celebrities just give up and get extensions.
Over the past couple of years, while growing out my beloved pixie cut, I’ve become somewhat of an expert at patience when growing hair out.
I’ve learned a lot about growing hair. Here are my tips for growing your hair out as fast as possible, and for making the process as painless as possible.
Vitamins
Prenatal vitamins and biotin have been the hair dresser’s secret to speeding hair growth for years. They won’t just help your hair grow, but your nails and skin will improve as well.
Both are available at your local drug store, over the counter. Take one every day. Be careful though, some people experience unwanted side effects from prenatal vitamins.
Nioxin
Nioxin is a line of hair products designed to promote a healthier scalp and improve the length and thickness of your hair. Nioxin has been around for decades and is used primarily for thinning hair concerns, but works great even if your hair isn’t thinning. Many of my clients also report that their hair appears thicker and healthier using Nioxin after four to six weeks. Nioxin comes in shampoo, conditioner, styling products, a variety of on-the-scalp treatments, and vitamins. Buy on Amazon.
F.A.S.T. Shampoo and Conditioner
is a shampoo and conditioning system designed specifically for faster hair growth. I used the system for a while when I was first growing my incredibly short pixie cut out, and was pleased with the progress I saw with F.A.S.T. I’d recommend using it, but be aware that F.A.S.T. can cause increased dryness due to the high levels of protein.
Put Yourself on a Healthy Hair Diet
You are what you eat. You will notice that your hair, skin, and nails appear healthier when you eat a well balanced diet, exercise, and stay hydrated. Of course, it never hurts to take good care of yourself, and your hair just might thank you by growing faster! Find out what foods help promote healthier hair.
Take Care of Your Scalp
If there is one thing I repeat to my clients and readers more often than anything else, it’s the fact that your hair will be all around better if you take better care of your scalp. Your hair’s ability to grow can only be improved by a healthy scalp. Learn how to take better care of your scalp.
Keep Chemical Services to a Minimum
Color, highlights, and perms) are what makes being a hair stylist great (and profitable), but your hair’s growth can be slowed significantly if you’re changing your hair with chemicals regularly. If you just must color your hair, try demi-permanent color instead of permanent, partial highlights rather than a full head of highlights, and give your hair as much time between services as possible. Chemicals treatments, especially highlights and perms, can cause hair breakage, and if your hair is breaking off, it’s not getting longer. By giving your hair a rest your hair will appear to grow faster because it will endure less breakage.
Get a Haircut
Okay, I know it sounds contradictory to get a haircut when you’re trying to grow your hair out, but hear me out. Regular haircuts do not make your hair grow faster, but they do prevent damage and breakage. The less your hair is breaking off at the ends, the more growth you’ll notice. It’s important to, at the very minimum, trim your ends every 8-12 weeks. The more you do to your hair (chemical services, heat styling, flat ironing), the more often you’ll need a trim. Talk to your stylist about your hair growing goals and ask her to cut the most minimum amount off. She can also help keep your hair shaped nicely to avoid the awkward stages of growing your hair out.
Turn Down the Heat
When you’re growing your hair out, preventing damage and hair breakage is key to faster growing hair. Whenever you can, blow your hair out instead of using a flat iron and try using your natural hair’s texture instead of using a curling iron. Most importantly, any time you use heat on your hair, protect your hair with a heat protecting spray. The less heat damage to your hair, the less breakage your hair will endure, and the faster your hair will be allowed to grow.
Strengthen your Locks
The whole idea for “growing your hair faster” has a lot to do with preventing breakage. The best way to prevent breakage and split ends is to take care of your hair and give it everything it needs to be strong. Protein treatments and a great deep conditioning treatment occasionally are an excellent ways to nurture your hair and improve its strength. My favorite protein treatment is CHI Keratin Mist because it’s light mist detangles hair and provides protein to the hair shaft. Buy on Amazon.com. If you’re looking for a deep conditioning treatment, I recommend trying out Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment. It’s a great overnight treatment that will restore your hair’s health.

Fasting refers to not taking either food, drink, or both by yourself with no force, for a particular period of time. It could be done partially for some certain kind of food or as totally in which no food or liquid is consumed for a day or a few days.
If you can’t skip food for a day, give up coffee or sweets, here are top reasons to fast.
Detoxification: This is a normal body activity when the body neutralizes or gets rid of any type of toxins in the various organs like the colon, liver, lungs, or
skin . During fasting, the body turns to the fat deposits for energy, which releases chemicals from the fatty reserves and results in the removal of these chemicals through these organs.
Improves Mental Health: After fasting, the blood is filled with increased levels of endorphins, which makes you more alert and leaving you with a feeling of good mental health.
Reduces Risk Of Obesity: Fasting has been and is still been used to fight off obesity for a long period. It activates the liver enzymes and breaking down fat and cholesterol into essential bile acids, stimulating the metabolism and converts the surplus fat into heat.
Under medical guidance, fasting proves to be the simplest and surest way to take out excess fat with an acceptable amount of minimum risks to one’s health.
Fasting can actually make you fatter. The power of fasting is not in losing weight during the fast, but in gaining control of your appetite after the fast, which is the REAL problem.
Gives The Digestive System A Break: During fasting, the digestive organs rest, giving the digestive system a much-needed rest. After fasting, both digestion and elimination are invigorated.
Lowers risk of type 2 diabetes: Fasting is known to reduce insulin resistance, helping with insulin sensitivity, allowing you to tolerate carbohydrate better than normal. Leading to a reduction in blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes.

President Trump is reportedly considering a major shakeup to his White House staff and bringing back top campaign strategists over his frustrations by what he sees as his team’s inability to contain the crisis involving alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
Lawyers and public relations experts are being recruited, the Associated Press reported Sunday, as new revelations surface about Moscow’s interference and possible improper dealings with the Trump campaign and associates.
The disclosures dogged Trump during his first trip abroad since taking office and threaten to overwhelm and stall the agenda for his young presidency.
The latest reports have taken aim at Trump’s son-in-law and top adviser Jared Kushner. Kushner is alleged to have spoken with Russia’s ambassador to the U.S. about setting up a back-channel communications network with Moscow during the presidential transition.
Trump did not come out directly and defend Kushner, but decried what he called the “fake news media” in a series of tweets earlier Sunday.
He focused heavily on leaks — both those coming out of the White House and an intelligence leak blamed on Americans about this week’s deadly bombing at a concert in England.
The back channel was meant to connect Michael Flynn, who later became Trump’s first national security adviser, with Russian military leaders, the AP reported.
Flynn was fired in February, officials saying he misled Vice President Mike Pence about whether he and the ambassador had discussed U.S. sanctions against Russia in a phone call.
While overseas, Trump’s longtime lawyer, Marc Kasowitz, joined a still-forming legal team to help the president shoulder the intensifying investigations into alleged Russian interference in the election and his associates’ potential involvement.
More attorneys with deep experience in Washington investigations are expected to be added, along with crisis communication experts, to help the White House in the weeks ahead.
“They need to quarantine this stuff and put the investigations in a separate communications operation,” said Jack Quinn, who served as White House counsel for President Bill Clinton.
Trump believed he was facing more of a communications problem than a legal one, despite the intensifying inquiries, one person familiar with his thinking told the AP.
As he mulls changes, Trump has entertained bringing his former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, and former deputy campaign manager, David Bossie, formally back into the fold.
Both Lewandowski and Bossie discussed the prospect with the president before his trip, according to one person told of the conversations. As a possible shakeup looms, Trump has other issues to deal with on the home front.
Aside from the Russia investigation, the president still has to make an official decision to pull out of the Paris climate agreement all the while defend his budget plan and hope his health care bill garners support in the Senate.
Trump also has to decide soon on a Pentagon recommendation to add more U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan, as well as boosting reinforcement for the beleaguered Afghan military.
While taxes have taken a back seat in recent weeks, Trump tweeted Sunday: “The massive TAX CUTS/REFORM that I have submitted is moving along in the process very well, actually ahead of schedule. Big benefits to all!”

Following the imprisonment of Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe’s husband, Lanre Gentry and marital crisis show that have been put up on social media by the couple, the Lagos State Government has written to the Nigerian Police, demanding that it forward the duplicate of the case file on alleged assault on the Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe by her husband, Lanre Gentry.
According to Vanguard, the request for the case file shows the State Government’s resolve not to back down from the case between actress and her husband. The couple The State Government in a letter written through the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, DPP, May 22, indicated its interest in prosecuting the alleged case of assault.
Vanguard gathered that the resolve to write the Police, was sequel to the result of the medical check-up conducted on the actress that indicated alleged assault by her husband.
It was also gathered that aside writing to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigative Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos Mainland Local Government, DPP also copied other relevant agencies, to alert them of its plan.
The State Government argued that the assault contravene sections 171, 243 and 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
It would be recalled that Coordinator of the State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, DSVRT, Mrs. Titilola Vivour- Adeniyi, had during his sensitization programmes argued that Domestic Violence is a crime committed against the State.
She explained that if anyone is beaten or suffered abused, the State is also being abused, noting, we must begin to renew our mindsets and treat Domestic Violence for what it is; a crime against the State.
Also, the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, had during this year’s ministerial briefing said:
“The DPP is committed to ensuring that all offenders are brought to book thereby discouraging impunity in our society. “We are also committed to speedy trials, especially so that suspects are not detained for too long awaiting trial. It is our belief that both the victims of a crime and the alleged offenders deserve to have their cases resolved at the earliest possible time,” he added.

Acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has sent a powerful message to Nigerians urging them to be ready to make sacrifices as that would put the country on course to be great.
The Punch reports that Osinbajo gave this message at the 2017 Democracy Day Interdenominational Church Service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja on Sunday, May 26.
Speaking on the theme of ‘The Dry Bones Shall Live Again’, the acting president said Nigeria needed teachers who were ready to teach and doctors who were ready to deliver their services in spite of all odds.
“When we look at our country, it is not the state it fell into that is the story but the story is how the people react when you see the nation that needs to be helped.
“While the politician and cleric look the other way when they saw the man that was half dead, the Good Samaritan had compassion on him, bandaged him and took him to the hospital.
“Who truly loves the nation? Is it the priest that said a prayer and walked past or the politician that looked and walked past or the Samaritan that took the wounded to the hospital, paid some money and said ‘treat him, on my return, I will offset the bill’?
“The nation requires those that can make the sacrifices to make it great. They are those whom Jesus spoke about; people that may not be of note but are prepared to make the nation great again. Some are doctors, teachers, young graduates.
“There is sacrifice of integrity against corruption. When you speak against corruption, it fights back, so you must be ready to make sacrifice no matter how highly placed or small you are. Teachers who are prepared to teach, doctors who are prepared to provide health services, no matter what.
“Make the sacrifices required to make our nation great whether you are a leader or a follower.”
Osinbajo also prayed for the quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari and his safe return back to Nigeria.
Apostle Sunday Popoola of the Apostle of the Word Communication Ministries and Founder of Christ Family Assembly Churches also spoke about the issue of the rumoured coup saying those involved should desist.
He said: “If you are out there like me, you will know that Nigerians are fed up and are waiting for something to spark. We need to be patient with the present government which has something to offer. Coup cannot work now and will not succeed.”
