Here are 10 common male health problems. Health problems are inevitable, the male body cannot and will not remain in perfect condition always. Keep reading and discover 10 common health problems that affect men.
Type 2 diabetes: The men at the highest risk for the type 2 diabetes are older, obese or overweight, have family members who have type 2 diabetes, and or those who have metabolic syndrome. In addition, men who are inactive, smoke, or have certain dietary patters have an increased risk of developing the disease.
Impotence: Impotence is also known as erectile dysfunction. There are certain factors that cause impotence. These reasons include obesity, excessive smoking and use of alcohol and other recreation medications, etc. In addition, impotence can be caused by stress and performance anxiety.
Prostate cancer: Prostate cancer is cancer that forms in tissues of the prostate. This health problem usually occurs in older men. The exact causes of prostate cancer are unknown.
Colon cancer: Colon cancer is cancer that forms in the cells of a man’s colon. The causes of colon cancer include age (in most cases men are over age 50), family history of colon cancer, obesity, poor diet, smoking, acromegaly, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, polyps, and physical inactivity.
Testicular cancer: Testicle cancer forms in the tissues of a man’s testicles. Testicular cancer usually occurs in young or middle-aged males. There are two main types of testicular cancer: seminomas and nonseminomas. Unfortunately the cause of testicular cancer is unknown.
Heart disease: There are several types of heart diseases that men can suffer from. The CDC states that heart disease is the leading cause of death for men in the United States. There are several medical conditions and lifestyle choices that may put males at a higher risk for heart disease which include high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, alcohol use, overweight and obesity, poor diet, and physical inactivity. Nine out of ten men with heart disease have at least one of these risk factors.
Prostatitis: is a disease of the prostate gland. It can cause pain in the groin, pain during urination, difficulty urinating, and related symptoms. Prostatitis is not one single condition, it is a group of disorders with related symptoms. The different types of prostatitis include bacterial prostatitis, chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic.
Pain, and Asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis: The cause of bacterial prostatitis are common strains of bacteria. The bacteria are most likely transported in urine that leaks from the urethra into the prostate. The causes of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain include immune system disorder, nervous system disorder, psychological stress, infection, pressure on the prostate from other diseased tissue, and traumatic injury. No single factor has been labeled as the cause; more than one factor may be at work. The causes of asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis are unknown.
Hypertension: Hypertension is another word for high blood pressure. Men who are especially at risk for hypertension include African Americans, older adults (age 60 and up), men who are overweight, and those who have “high normal” blood pressures.
Obesity: Obesity can result from energy imbalance. When a man consumes more calories than he burns, the energy balance is tipped toward weight gain. Genetics, environment, behavioral, and socioeconomic factors can all lead to obesity. Obesity can cause a wide range of health problems in men which include heart disease, arthritis, diabetes and increased risk of strokes.
Injury: According to the CDC, the leading cause of fatal accidents among males is motor vehicle crashes. Falls and poisoning are other leading causes of fatal accidents in men. To avoid injuries involving motor vehicles all a man has to do is be cautious, wear his seat belt, go the speed limit, never drive under the influence, and never drive while sleepy. To avoid injuries involving falls and poisonings, a man should use common sense and precautions.

Medical doctors under the aegis of the Nigerian Association of Dermatologists, say they have begun the process of meeting with some lawmakers at the National Assembly in order to formulate laws that will regulate the manufacture and use of bleaching cream.
The Chairman of the Abuja Dermatology Society, Dr. Mohammed Danmallam, who spoke on behalf of NAD, said this during a press conference held in commemoration of the World Skin Health Day in Abuja on Thursday.
According to Punchng, Danmallam said, “Speaking of legislation, what we are trying to do now is to try to talk to the health committees so that we can see how they can help us in formulating laws and one of the ways to do that is that we are currently conducting an investigation in collaboration with some African countries.
We are trying to come out with statistics and facts so that when we sit down with these legislators, we will be able to give them facts that can convince them and so we can move ahead.
Countries of the world have banned a lot of substances for example, hydroquinone which is the most abused chemical component used in bleaching the skin. It is banned in Europe.
It is still allowed in the U.S but only based on prescription. Unfortunately, we live in a country where everything is prescription-free.
As dermatologists, there are conditions we treat. We treat blemishes but we know the dosage, the side effects and when to stop but in our environment, people go out of their way to use it in a manner that is not seen anywhere in the world.”
The chairman said there was no difference between skin toning and bleaching as they both made the skin susceptible to infection. He explained that when people bleach, they kill off matured cells and leave baby cells at the top layer of the skin which are not strong enough to protect the body from infection especially skin cancer.
Danmallam added, “Imagine leaving your house in the hands of your five-year-old child. Of course, you know there will be chaos. That is exactly what happens and that is where the problem starts.”

The FG has fine-tuned plans to punish and possibly jail entertainers who evade taxes after the nine-month grace period set out by the recently launched voluntary asset and income declaration scheme (VAIDS).
TheCable learnt that for 15 months, the FG via various agencies and departments, to include the private sector, has been gathering information on tax compliance of many celebrities and high net worth individuals in the country.
“Highly qualified” agents of the federal ministry of finance have worked with the banks, Nigeria Financial Intelligent Unit (NFIU), bureau de change (BDCs), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), to monitor the degree of tax compliance of many celebrities and high net worth individuals.
The government has also reviewed land ownership, ownership of exotic cars, yatchs, private jets and other luxurious properties to understand the earnings and assets of many of these persons, relative to their taxes.
Following massive revelations, the government launched VAIDS, a scheme that allows these celebrities and other Nigerians to declare their assets and income, and pay necessary taxes without interest, penalty or investigation.
The scheme, which will run for nine months, is a grace period for the celebrities to make amends of face the full wrath of the law, which could include jail term of up to five years.
For celebrities with houses in exotic locations worth millions of naira, and a tax record not consistent with the value of the property, the goverment advises that such celebrities “complete form VA1” and clarify sources of income for the house and pay necessary taxes within July 1, 2017 and March 31, 2018.
Celebrities who do not take advantage of the scheme risk “up to five-year imprisonment, get severe extra penalties: up to 100% of the outstanding tax due, a compound interest at 21% per annum, and foreiture of such assets”.

US President Donald Trump has defended his use of social media in a series of tweets, following a row over comments he made about two MSNBC TV presenters, Today reports.
“My use of social media is not presidential – it’s modern day presidential,” he tweeted on Saturday.
Earlier in the week, the president launched a crude personal attack on Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough.
His tweets were condemned by Democrats and Republicans alike, despite the White House springing to his defence.
Trump’s aides have previously expressed concern over his tweets.
But the president said on Saturday that social media gave him the opportunity to connect directly to the public, bypassing the mainstream media, whose content Mr Trump regularly labels as “fake news”.
“The FAKE & FRAUDULENT NEWS MEDIA is working hard to convince Republicans and others I should not use social media,” he tweeted, adding: “But remember, I won the 2016 election with interviews, speeches and social media.”
Trump also stepped up his attack on CNN after the US news network retracted an article alleging that one of the president’s aides was under investigation by Congress.
“I am extremely pleased to see that @CNN has finally been exposed as #FakeNews and garbage journalism. It’s about time!”
The story that caused the upset, which was later removed from the website following an internal investigation, resulted in the resignations of three CNN journalists: Thomas Frank, investigative unit editor and Pulitzer Prize winner Eric Lictblau and Lex Harris, who oversaw the investigations unit.
Trump has repeatedly called CNN “fake news” and has previously labelled Buzzfeed a “failing pile of garbage”. At a news conference in February, the president was introduced to the BBC’s North America editor, Jon Sopel, to which he responded: “Here’s another beauty.”
Meanwhile, addressing military veterans at the John F Kennedy Centre for Performing Arts in Washington on Saturday, Trump promised that America would “win again”, prompting cheers from the crowd as he attacked media outlets.
“The fake media is trying to silence us, but we will not let them,” he said at the Celebrate Freedom Rally. “The fake media tried to stop us from going to the White House. But I’m president, and they’re not.”
The US president has more than 33 million followers on Twitter. Although it is becoming seemingly more difficult for the president to shock this audience, his 140-character posts have been condemned by both politicians and commentators, reports the BBC.
Some consider the language used by Trump as unsuitable for the holder of the highest office. On Friday, the New York Post published a three-word editorial on Trump’s tweets: “Stop. Just stop.”
It followed the president’s tweets on Thursday mocking MSNBC Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski, saying she had been “bleeding badly from a facelift” when he saw her six months ago.
He also verbally attacked her co-host and partner, Scarborough, describing him as “psycho Joe”.
Ms Brzezinksi and Scarborough hit back, accusing the president of an “unhealthy obsession” with them”. They alleged the White House had tried to blackmail them into apologising for their show’s negative coverage of President Trump.
Senator Lindsey Graham said Trump’s remarks were “beneath the office” of president, while fellow Republican Ben Sasse said “this isn’t normal and it’s beneath the dignity of your office”.
Despite the criticism, President Trump stepped up his attack on Ms Brzezinksi on Saturday, calling her “dumb as a rock”.

The Presidency has revealed that the Presidential aircraft parked in London, will remain there until President Muhammadu Buhari recuperates.
The parking of the Presidential jet in London, will deprive Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, from using the aircraft, Post-Nigeria gathered.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, made this disclosure in a statement, on Thursday.
He added that, the Presidential aircraft was at the service of Buhari, who has been in the United Kingdom for medical treatment, since May 7.
He stated: “It is important to state that for reasons of protocol, national security, diplomacy, and prestige, there is no World Leader who travels abroad and is left without plans for immediate return or possible evacuation.
“From an operational point of view, this country’s Armed Forces as represented by the Nigeria Air Force, are not to abandon their Commander-In-Chief in whichever circumstance he is. This is a standard operating procedure.”
Shehu, described claims about outrageous fees allegedly paid by Nigeria as totally untrue, explaining that aircraft conveying Heads of States all over the world, usually enjoy waivers, even where payments for parking are differentiated by aircraft categories.
According to the Presidential Spokesman, even where the waiver is not granted, “payment will not exceed £1,000, which is a quarter of the amount being peddled.”
He noted that, Buhari was not the first to have a Presidential aircraft standing by for him, as he would “certainly” not be the last.
“All past Heads of this country, have had this privilege, and the part that surprises the most, is that leaders who in the past traveled with three Nigerian aircraft, did not suffer this trenchant criticism.”
Shehu speaking further, appealed to Nigerians to ignore opposition campaign, aimed at derailing Buhari’s administration’s “big plans” for the country.
