US President Donald Trump has officially had an impeachment article filed against him.
It was introduced by Democratic congressmen Al Green and Brad Sherman in the wake of news about Russia’s possible involvement with the president’s election campaign. He accused the president of obstructing justice during the feds’ probe of Russia’s election meddling,
Sherman said the article was filed because the firing of FBI Director James Comeyconstitutes an ‘obstruction of justice’.
A statement on his website reads, “Recent disclosures by Donald Trump Jr. indicate that Trump’s campaign was eager to receive assistance from Russia. It now seems likely that the President had something to hide when he tried to curtail the investigation of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and the wider Russian probe.
“Every day Democrats, Republicans, and the entire world are shocked by the latest example of America’s amateur President. Ignorance accompanied by a refusal to learn. Lack of impulse control, accompanied by a refusal to have his staff control his impulses. We’re no longer surprised by any action, no matter how far below the dignity of the office — and no matter how dangerous to the country…

Godspower Gbenekama, a chief in Gbaramatu kingdom, says that the people of the Niger Delta will resume attacks on oil facilities if they continue to feel that the government is ignoring them.
According to Reuters, Gbenekama said no one can be assured that nothing will happen in the Delta. Some youth from the region had allegedly carried out attacks on oil facilities to protest the continued silence of the FG about issues in the Niger Delta, which resulted in reduced oil production output.
Acting President Yemi Osinbajo had visited communities in the region, holding peace talks and town hall meetings to broker peace in the region. “The people of the Niger Delta can hold this government or any government to ransom because we are the people feeding the nation,” Gbenekama said.
“This peace is a graveyard peace. Nobody can assure anybody that nothing will happen in the Delta.” Annkio Briggs, a leading activist in Port Harcourt, described the peace talks as lies and deceit while Richard Akinaka, who represented the youth in Rivers state for a meeting with Osinbajo, said the government is treading a disastrous path.
“The government is treading on a path that is disastrous setting a precedent that they will only negotiate with the Delta when they start blowing stuff up,” he said. He dismissed the meeting with one word – ‘bogus’.
However, a government spokesman said the government has not reneged on the agreement and the government will never do so.
“The government has not reneged and will never renege on any agreement.
Call for resuming attacks when the government is diligent in actualising the terms of the agreements and requests made will not help matters,” he said.
The government official said it would take time for other agreements, such as the planned opening of a university and community ownership of small-scale refineries, to come to fruition.

According to Daily Mirror, Nwankwo Kanu has recalled the day his wife Amara saved his life and then nursed him back to health. After putting their three children to bed, the Arsenal legend and his wife were enjoying the peace and quiet.
They were about to go to sleep, but the former striker’s hammering heartbeat was keeping Amara awake. She recalls: “His heartbeat sounded much louder than normal. I was listening to his chest and it sounded odd.”
In 1996, Kanu had needed lifesaving open-heart surgery after being diagnosed with a heart valve defect. Amara, 30, couldn’t shake the niggling feeling that was something wasn’t quite right and insisted her husband get it checked immediately. .
Kanu, now 40, says: “She was saying I should go for a check-up so I took her advice.” And Amara was proved right because experts told him there was further damage to his heart and he urgently needed a second operation. .
“It was the same faulty valve,” she says. “It was like a ticking time bomb. It’s just one of those things we were lucky to find out.” Not only did she save his life, Amara also nursed him back to health.
Kanu’s first open-heart surgery was in 1996 after a routine medical examination at Inter Milan revealed the serious heart defect. He was a professional athlete at the top of his game and had just helped Nigeria win gold at the Olympics.
It was a complete shock but Kanu says: “Now I know that being fit and strong doesn’t make your heart 100%.”
