(Sputnik/NAN)The U.S. has tested an intercontinental ballistic missile Minuteman III at the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, 30th Space Wing commander, Col. Michael Hough said in a statement on Wednesday.
“The seamless partnership of Team V and our Air Force Global Strike Command mission partners has resulted in another safe Minuteman III operational test launch,” Hough stated.
The missile test was not a response to actions by North Korea, according to media reports.
The launch comes less than a week after North Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile for the second time.
According to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the July 28 test was successful with the missile reaching an altitude of 3,725 km and traveling 998 km for about 47 minutes before falling in the Sea of Japan.
In response, the United States, Japan and South Korea carried out a ten-hour show of force by flying fighter jets around the Korean Peninsula and in Japanese airspace.

A Republican senator said Tuesday that US President Donald Trump has told him he would go to war to destroy North Korea rather than allow it to develop a long-range nuclear-armed missile.
Influential lawmaker Lindsey Graham, a foreign policy hawk, told NBC’s Today Show: “There is a military option: To destroy North Korea’s program and North Korea itself.”
Last week, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un boasted that his country could now strike any target in the United States after carrying out its latest intercontinental ballistic missile test.
World powers have been trying to stifle Pyongyang’s weapons program through United Nations-backed sanctions, but have failed to daunt the regime and Washington is growing frustrated.
Graham said that if diplomacy, and in particular pressure from the North’s neighbor China, fails to halt the program then the United States will have no choice but to take devastating military action.
“They’ve kicked the can down the road for 20 years. There will be a war with North Korea over the missile program if they continue to try to hit America with an ICBM,” he said, describing his discussions with Trump.
“He’s told me that. I believe him. If I were China, I would believe him, too, and do something about it. You can stop North Korea, militarily or diplomatically.
“I prefer the diplomatic approach. But they will not be allowed to have a missile to hit America with a nuclear weapon on top.”

Regular drinking of green tea could improve memory, thinking and learning abilities, says a study published online in the FASEB journal.
According to the study, epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a biologically active component in green tea, does the work.
The chemical is said to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and heart protection properties that also protects against diabetes and obesity.
To make the determination, researchers at Northwest A&F University, China, divided 3-month-old male mice into three groups based on diet.
The control group was fed with a standard diet, another group was fed with an HFFD diet, and the third group was fed with an HFFD diet and 2 grams of EGCG per liter of drinking water.
For 16 weeks, researchers monitored the mice and found that those fed with HFFD had a higher final body weight than the control mice, and a significantly higher final body weight than the HFFD+EGCG mice.
After the experiments, they also found that EGCG could improve HFFD-induced memory impairment.
“Green tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world after water, and is grown in at least 30 countries,” said Xuebo Liu, a researcher at the college of food science and engineering, Northwest A&F University, in Yangling, China.
“The ancient habit of drinking green tea may be a more acceptable alternative to medicine when it comes to combating obesity, insulin resistance, and memory impairment.” (Source: Nigeriana)

Your skin reflects your health. It’s your body’s canvas and one of its most valuable assets. For good skin care, start developing healthy habits that guard your valued possession from outer (and inner) forces. It’s the only skin you’ll ever get, so your daily habits mean everything. Buy a moisturizer that is best suited for your skin type (dry, normal, or oily).
Block the sun. In fact, most skin cancers are related to sun exposure. Limit your time in the sun, especially between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., and always wear a broad spectrum sunscreen with the physical blocker zinc oxide and a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or greater. Cover exposed areas with protective clothing, such as a long-sleeve shirt, pants, and a wide-brimmed hat.
Seek professional help for skin problems. Your skin will not be perfect. It can be dry or oily; it can develop rashes and acne, among many other issues. Address the problem with a professional skin expert, either a skin aesthetician at your local salon or a dermatologist for more severe skin problems.
Self screening. Over the course of your life, you should pay attention to all parts of your skin. Familiarize yourself with it, so you’ll notice any changes that might occur, such as different moles or patches that might indicate skin cancer. Whenever you have a question or concern, make sure you see your doctor
