Amb. Matthew Rycroft, the United Kingdom Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has said the UK supports the warning by U.S President, Donald Trump to return “fire and fury” against North Korea, The Whistler reports.
Speaking to UN Correspondents on Wednesday shortly after the Security Council meeting, Rycroft said both the U.S and UK are united against Pyongyang if it continues to conduct nuclear threats.
“The United Kingdom stands shoulder to shoulder with the United States in tackling this threat and many others.
“We are united in calling on the North Korean regime to halt its nuclear programme.
“The whole of the Security Council has come together behind that and I think that we should see the President’s public comments as one of the many strands of US activism,’’ the British envoy said.
Rycroft pledged that the UK would continue to work closely with the United States and its international partners to ensure that North Korea is not able to pursue its nuclear and intercontinental ballistic missile programmes.
“The United States has been very clear about its position.
“The United Kingdom has been very clear about our position and we call on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s regime to listen to that clarity.
“We call on DPRK to act on that clarity, to halt its nuclear programme; to halt its intercontinental ballistic missile programme, and it holds the key to sanctions being removed,” Rycroft said.
On Tuesday, North Korea said it is considering plans to fire “medium-to-long-range” ballistic missiles on the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam.
The strike plan would be put into practice at any moment once leader Kim Jong Un makes a decision, a spokesman for the Korean People’s Army (KPA) said in a statement carried by the North’s state-run KCNA news agency.
The DPRK was reacting to a warning by President Trump that any threat to the United States by North Korea would be met with “fire and fury”.
Trump’s warning came after Pyongyang said it would “make the US pay dearly” for helping spearhead the passage of new UN sanctions against North Korea in response to two recent missile tests.
The U.N. Security Council unanimously imposed new sanctions on North Korea on Saturday over its continued missile tests, a decision that angered Pyongyang.

According to a report by Guardian, FBI agents seized documents in a raid on a home of former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort last month as the explosive probe into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election gains pace.
A Manafort spokesman confirmed the raid, which the Washington Post described as a pre-dawn search of Manafort’s Alexandria, Virginia home just outside of Washington on July 28.
The Post said federal agents took away “documents and other materials” acting on a search warrant from independent special prosecutor Robert Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between President Donald Trump’s election campaign and Russia.
“FBI agents executed a search warrant at one of Mr Manafort’s residences. Mr Manafort has consistently cooperated with law enforcement and other serious inquiries and did so on this occasion as well,” said Jason Maloni, a spokesman for Manafort.
The New York Times, citing a person briefed on the matter, said the agents took away tax documents and foreign banking records.
Manafort managed Trump’s campaign until he was forced to resign in August amid reports that he was under investigation over millions of dollars he was allegedly paid by the pro-Russia former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych.
Manafort’s private consulting business on behalf of Moscow-linked billionaire oligarchs have fueled concerns about possible collusion, and also questions about how he handled payments for his services.
He also took part in the June 9, 2016 meeting last year between Trump campaign officials, including son Donald Trump Jr. and son-in-law Jared Kushner, and a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer on the promise of damaging information about Trump’s election rival Hillary Clinton.
While the White House has downplayed the meeting as insignificant and said nothing came of it, critics said it indicated the campaign’s willingness to consider cooperating with Russia.
US intelligence agencies say President Vladimir Putin ordered a covert effort to hurt Clinton’s presidential effort last year and boost Trump’s chances of winning.

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered that a $37.5m mansion on Banana Island, Lagos linked to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.
The court also ordered that the sums of sums of $2,740,197.96 and N84,537,840.70 realised as rents on the property should equally be forfeited to the Federal Government.
The orders were made on Monday by Justice Chuka Obiozor, following a motion on notice argued before him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Sometimes, small changes to your lifestyle can really cut your odds of having a heart attack or stroke. Try this step-by-step approach.
1. Exercise a little each day
Moderate physical activity lowers your chances of a heart attack. Shoot for 30 minutes of exercise that gets your heart pumping at least 5 days a week. Brisk walking or swimming are some good choices. On the other 2 days, do strength training, like lifting weights.
If you’ve got a tight schedule, break your exercise routine into small chunks. Try a 15-minute walk in the morning and another before lunch.
2. Set a reasonable goal for weight loss
If you’re overweight or obese, you don’t have to get thin to reduce your risk for a heart attack or stroke. If you lose 5 per cent to 10 per cent of your weight, you’ll improve your cholesterol numbers and lower your blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
3. Take your heart medicine
It sounds like a no-brainer, but don’t skip your meds. Many people don’t take their medications the way their doctor told them to.
Figure out what keeps you from taking your medicine — it could be side effects, cost, or forgetfulness — and ask your doctor for help.
4. Eat well
If you stick to a healthy diet, you could lower your odds of getting heart disease.
Fill your plate with different kinds of: Fruits, Veggies, Whole grains, Fish and Lean meats
Stay away from processed or prepared foods that often are high in salt and added sugar. They’re also filled with preservatives.
5. Drink some alcohol, but not too much
If you drink, any type of alcohol helps your heart, but use caution. Too much raises your risk of high blood pressure, heart attack, and stroke.
To get the benefit without the risk, stop at one drink a day if you’re a woman and two if you’re a man.
6. Eat a little chocolate
Go for dark chocolate, and make sure the ingredients are at least 70 per cent cacao. It’s filled with nutrients that help protect your ticker (heart). Keep your portions small so you don’t gain weight and work your heart harder.
7. Don’t smoke
Smoking dramatically raises your risk of heart attacks and strokes. Talk to your doctor about how to quit. You’ll also be doing your friends and family a favor, since secondhand smoke can also lead to heart disease.
8. Pay attention to your symptoms
Don’t just hope they’ll go away. See your doctor if you feel anything unusual, like shortness of breath, changes in your heart rhythm, or extreme tiredness. Also, watch for pain in your jaw or back, nausea or vomiting, sweating, or flu-like symptoms.
