Nicolás Maduro Guerra, the son of the Venezuelan President, is threatening to seize the White House with rifles if President Donald Trump sends the United States military to his nation.
The White House had condemned President Nicolás Maduro’s regime for human rights abuses. More than 120 people have died in anti-government protests since April.
Last week, Trump said he would not rule out the possibility of a military intervention in Venezuela.
“Venezuela is not very far away and the people are suffering, and they are dying. We have many options for Venezuela, including a possible military option if necessary,” Trump told reporters at his New Jersey golf club.
President Maduro’s son responded to Trump on Saturday, but appeared confused on the location of the White House.
“If the unlikely event of defiling the homeland came to pass, the rifles would arrive in New York,” he told Venezuelan state media.
“Mr. Trump, we would arrive and take the White House.”
Pentagon spokesman Eric Pahon said the Defence Department has not been ordered to make any military movements related to Venezuela – but is prepared if need be.
The Trump administration slapped sanctions on Venezuela after a vote last month allowed President Maduro to replace opposition-dominated National Assembly with a new 545-member Constituent Assembly filled with his supporters.
Protests have rocked the streets of Caracas and other Venezuelan cities, both before the vote and in response to the vote.
The United Nations’ human rights office said this month that Venezuelan security forces have used excessive force and arbitrarily detained thousands of people.
Venezuelan Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino said US military action in his country would be a “crazy act”. (CNN)

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has on Sunday, listed out his priorities in the next 22 months, as the 2019 General Elections draw near, Post-Nigeria reports.
Speaking on the issues that will take up the Senate’s time over the next 22-months, the Senate President also stated that it will focus on developing Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit, through appropriate legislation.
“From Day One, this Senate had its own legislative agenda. You will see that some of the things we have been doing are working our way through this agenda, in order to cross items off our list and deliver on our promised change,” the President of the Senate said.
“This has allowed us to treat more petitions than any other parliament in our nation’s history, and pass more Bills at the mid-term mark.
“This is why, as we return in September, we will be finalizing on our infrastructure and social intervention pieces of legislation. These are laws that will not only make it easier for small and medium enterprises across the nation to do business. We will make laws that would create ample opportunities for all Nigerians to realize their potentials.
“Additionally, the Host Community component of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) which looks at the ecological debt incurred against communities where petroleum exploration happens, and the community participation and security of these communities will also be on the front-burner of our affairs. This is something Nigerians can watch out for.
“Similarly, the Industry Administration component of the PIB, which seeks to open up the industry for investment and growth, as well as create the much-needed expansion of the industry by allowing new entrants into the operations of the industry is now at the committee stage at the Senate. We will work to quickly pass the bill”, Saraki said.
The Senate President, emphasized that even though the Senate only had less than 22-months to complete its term, with several noteworthy achievements already recorded, it would not take its foot off the pedal.
“Yes, a lot has been done. However, many of the positive effects of our work might still take some time to be felt. This is why we will continue to keep pushing and keep pressing for the people that we represent. So that one day, they will look back and say that “Yes, truly, the 8th Senate really worked hard for us.”

US President Donald Trump on Friday said a military option against North Korea was “locked and loaded,” his latest salvo in an escalating war of words with Pyongyang’s nuclear-armed regime.
“Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely. Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path!” Trump tweeted.
The US president’s Twitter missive ratcheted up his already bellicose rhetoric with Kim over North Korea’s weapons program, as Beijing appealed to the two leaders to dampen their fiery exchange.
A day prior Trump had hardened his warning that Pyongyang would face “fire and fury” if it kept threatening the United States, saying maybe his tough talk “wasn’t tough enough.”
Trump also warned North Korea it should be “very, very nervous” of the consequences if it even thinks of attacking US soil, after Pyongyang said it was readying plans to launch missiles towards the Pacific territory of Guam.
Pyongyang said the scheme to target the island, a key US military outpost in the western Pacific, was intended to “signal a crucial warning” as “only absolute force”would have an effect on a US leader “bereft of reason.”
Beijing on Friday pleaded with the US and North Korea for restraint, urging the two parties “to be cautious with their words and actions.”
China has repeatedly urged a resumption of long-dormant six-party talks to peacefully resolve the crisis, but its position has been overshadowed by the emerging brinkmanship between Trump and Kim.

There are some food-inspired beauty treatments that are guaranteed to leave you feeling fresh and chemical free.
These foods help build beautiful skin from the inside out and can also give you an extra boost when applied directly to your skin.
Skincare products can be costly and come with a ton of side effects but these foods are both cost effective and natural.
Here’s a list of foods that are proven to nourish and protect your skin:
1. Honey
Honey is rich in antioxidants that not only cleanse the skin but also protects it from harmful bacteria. You can slather raw honey on your face to create a mask, allow it to set for several minutes, then wash away. Your skin will feel softer and look brighter.
2. Eggs
Eating eggs or applying an egg mask to your face is beneficial for your skin. Eggs are an excellent source of Vitamin A which helps damaged skin repair itself.
3. Apple
Apples are rich in Vitamin C. This is good news for your skin since this mineral works to tighten and tone the skin. Apples can also prevent the production of free radicals that cause premature aging.
You can either eat an apple per day or opt to apply the juices from the fruit directly to your face. Allow it to set for ten minutes before rinsing clean.
4. Carrots
Carrots are high in Vitamin A, which helps repair fine lines and wrinkles.
If you want a quick boost to your skin, try eating more carrots.
5. Rosemary
If you are looking for a great herb that can help your skin, look no further than Rosemary. Like other herbs, rosemary is packed full of antioxidants that help promote healthy skin. It can also shield your skin from the damage of the sun.
6. Tumeric
This root has awesome anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antioxidant and astringent properties; when applied topically, it helps smooth out the skin and fight wrinkles.
Turmeric also may help fade acne scars, too. Just be sure to dilute it with other ingredients like oil, as turmeric by itself may stain the skin.
7. Yoghurt
As long as you stick with plain varieties, yogurt is another great natural moisturizer and skin soother. It’s rich in calcium, protein, and probiotics.
It also contains lactic acid, which works as a mild exfoliant. Apply it to the skin by itself or mix with other natural ingredients for a hydrating mask, which can help prevent premature aging and promote a healthy glow.

9. Lemon
Citrus fruits as a group contain high levels of vitamin C, which supports the production of collagen and boosts skin elasticity when applied topically.
The alpha-hydroxy acids help to even out skin toner and may also have a lightening effect on the skin. Mix in small amounts of lemon juice to face masks or scrubs to reap the brightening benefits.
10. Coconut oil has incredible moisturizing and restorative properties. It actually contains a fair amount of antioxidants and is also antifungal.
Coconut oil can be used as a super-hydrating and luscious moisturizer for dry or sensitive skin.
