Leader of the Independent People Of Biafra(IPOB) has sent a direct threat to President Buhari in his new speech made at the Boys Technical College (BTC) in Aba, Abia state, paying tribute to those reportedly killed at National High School, by security agencies. He made his threats as reaction to the call of the federal government that his bail should be revoked.
Recall that Kanu spent 18 months in detention, following his arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS), until Binta Nyako, justice of a federal high court in Abuja, granted him bail on April 25. But the activist has flouted all the bail conditions, prompting the calls for his arrest.
Read his speech below;
“Where we are, is Biafra Land. Aba is the spiritual capital of Biafra land. We started in Aba in 2015 at CKC (Christ the King Catholic Cathedral),” Kanu said.
“That day, heaven authenticated our move that IPOB will restore Biafra and that’s what we’ve come to do. We died in Aba; at National High School.
“They shot and killed us in other places in Biafra land when they were protesting for my release. As our people rest in the grave, we’ll never rest until Biafra is restored. I don’t care what they say in Abuja. I don’t give a damn what they say in Lagos.
“I’m a Biafran and we are going to crumble the zoo. Some idiots who are not educated said that they’ll arrest me, and I ask them to come. I’m in Biafra land. If any of them leaves Biafra land alive know that this is not IPOB. Tell them that’s what I said.
“Tell Buhari that I’m in Aba and any person who comes to arrest Nnamdi Kanu in Biafra land will die here. I’ll never go on exile I assure you.
“Some people talk about restructuring, are we doing the restructuring of Nigeria now? Are we doing fiscal federalism? Are we doing devolution? What we want is Biafra!
“Forget all the nonsense they write about us. We are not slowing down and no man born of a woman can stop us.
“They thought we are joking and God gave us a simple message that no one can stop us. The movement to restore Biafra is unstoppable.
“The message of heaven is what I bring to you. Don’t be afraid. The plans of our enemies are not going to be actualized. The enemies are planning, but we are formidable.
“We are going to boycott Anambra state election. After Anambra 2017, in 2019, there’ll be no elections in Biafra land. Signed and sealed. My message is that there’ll not be an election in Biafra land ever again until they give us a date for a referendum.”

How to take care of your hair can a hotly contested issue. What you do at home and what your hairdresser does in the salon often seems to be conflicting.
Also, no matter how much you spend on your hair products, it appears your hairdresser will never approve unless it is a salon brand and then there are so many to choose from…
Have you ever noticed how your hair feels, looks and smells different when you’ve been to the salon by comparison to when you do your hair at home?
Have you tried to replicate the salon’s end result at home only to fail each time?
If this sounds about right then you are not alone in your plight to have salon-fresh hair. Many people struggle with hair and scalp issues: more than they care to admit. And, they are unsure of how to treat the problem especially when they’re suffering from persistent flaky scalp and the like.
Flaky scalp is often a symptom of a bigger problem. The cause is often due to conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis. In this case, you must seek proper treatment for the issue. Sometimes this is brought on by stress and sometimes it’s brought on by the incorrect care for your hair.
However, you can keep your hair healthy and strong through maintenance at home if you know how.
But there are, unfortunately, some hair care myths out there that deserve to be busted. Either they’re untrue or unnecessary:
Myth #1: You must cut your hair to make it grow
You must trim your hair as doing so will keep your hair healthy and get rid of damaged ends. However, it won’t make your hair grow any faster. The hair grows from the root, so snipping off ends won’t assist it with growing faster than it naturally will. Your hair is bound to however, look healthier and fuller after a good cut.
Myth #2: You must wash your hair every day
Well this a controversial topic. There is a lot of information out there about whether you should wash your hair daily, or if not, how often you should wash your hair.
Some say washing your hair daily will cause the natural oils to build up on your scalp and will result in your hair looking greasy.
However, in reality, you must wash your hair as frequently as your hair type needs and according to your personal preference.
Using the correct shampoo for your hair is also vitally important. If you are using the right shampoo for your hair type then you are likely to find that washing your hair every two to three days will be sufficient.
Myth #3: Cold water makes your hair shine
Okay, so there is some truth in this as cold water does increase the shine of your hair but not drastically. Washing your hair in icy water will only make for a very uncomfortable shower experience and the payoff will be minimal.
The best idea is to create a happy medium where you wash your hair as per normal – and once a week you use tepid or lukewarm water, which will increase the circulation of your hair follicles.

Myth #4: Change your shampoo once in a while to keep your hair on its “toes”
You must choose the right type of shampoo for your hair type in order to get optimal hair care results. But changing your shampoo won’t necessarily improve your hair quality unless you’re changing from using a product that is unsuitable for your hair to one that is.
For instance, hair care technology has come very far and you can now find shampoos that will assist those with frizzy hair, limp and fine hair and even coloured hair. So find one that suits your needs and stick with it. Changing products won’t make any difference to your hair’s quality.
Myth #5: Don’t use conditioner on oily hair
Greasy hair, just like a flaky scalp, is caused by a bigger problem than using too much conditioner. If you suffer from particularly greasy hair, then you need to cleanse the hair of the greasy build up and lightly condition.
You can also buy conditioner specifically formulated for greasy hair, and used in conjunction with an exfoliating and clarifying shampoo, you are bound to get excellent results. This is the same principle as not moisturising oily skin. You simply must.

If you’re in pain or have nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or other symptoms, you’d do anything to feel better.
Luckily most stomach bugs are short-lived. However, choosing the wrong kind of food when your appetite starts to perk up again may prolong the misery.
Refined sugar
Supersweet foods, such as those containing refined sugar can lead to spikes in insulin levels which, in turn, can lead to fluctuations in blood sugar.
Although this might not directly affect your stomach, it could make you feel clammy and shaky, which isn’t going to improve your overall state, says Robynne Chutkan, MD, assistant professor in the division of gastroenterology at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.
Dairy
Dairy products such as milk and cheese top the list of “don’t” foods when it comes to upset stomachs. For one thing, more than half the world’s population is already lactose intolerant, meaning they lack the necessary enzyme to digest dairy products.
But even if you’re not lactose intolerant, a viral or bacterial infection can affect lactase (the lactose-digesting enzyme) and could cause you to temporarily or even permanently lose your ability to digest lactose, says Dr. Chutkan.
Soda
Although many people attribute soda’s aggravating qualities to the carbonation, you can really blame citric acid and the preservative sodium benzoate, says Dr. Chutkan.
“The chemicals can be hard on the stomach,” she says. But the carbonation can also bother some people.
“It can give you a full feeling and if you have an upset stomach and you’re burping a lot and feeling full, that can be a problem,” she explains.
Chocolate and caffeine
One of the main reasons caffeine and chocolate (which may contain caffeine) are irritating to an already-upset tummy is that, like peppermint tea, they relax the lower esophageal sphincter, which allows acid reflux.
Caffeine can also loosen stools, which isn’t good if you already have diarrhea. And chocolate that contains milk products or nuts could be difficult to digest for those who are lactose-intolerant or allergic.
Fatty foods
Cream, meats, soft cheese: All of these foods are high in fat and won’t help if you’re feeling sick to your stomach.
That’s because fatty foods activate chemical receptors in the stomach in such a way as to slow down emptying of the stomach, making you feel bloated, explains Dr. Chutkan.
Other high-fat foods such as nuts will make you feel full. That may be good if you’re trying to lose weight, but not so great if you’re feeling awful.

Foods high in acid
Citrus fruits along with tomato-based products (tomato is technically a fruit and contains a lot of acid) have the potential to cause acid reflux, Dr. Chutkan says.
This applies to citrusy fruit juices as well. So while apple juice would probably be fine, orange juice isn’t the best choice.
Other fruits tend to be fine, she adds.
Spices
Spices and spicy food may not be as bad as you think. “If you’re used to eating spicy food, you probably have a very good tolerance for it and it will be fine,” says Dr. Chutkan.
If you’re not used to these foods, this may not be the time to start. But also pay attention to how—and with what—the spices are cooked. “Spices are associated with cooking in oil, so fat is probably more a reason [for upset stomach] than the spice itself,” says Amit Bhan, MD, service chief of gastroenterology at Henry Ford Health System, in West Bloomfield, Mich.
Alcohol
Like so many other items on the “bad food” list, alcohol can exacerbate gastric acidity, says Dr. Bhan.
It contains chemicals that are hard to metabolize, irritate the stomach lining, and may be a particular problem for those who already have difficulties with their liver, says Dr. Chutkan.
People with liver problems shouldn’t be drinking large amounts of alcohol and anyone with stomach problems would be advised to stay away as well.
Processed foods
Not unlike sodas, processed foods with a long-shelf life typically have a lot of chemicals, including preservatives, which could further upset your tummy.
So while a can of spaghetti might look attractive because it’s sitting right there in your pantry, you may want to leave it alone for now. (The tomato sauce would probably be bad for your stomach anyway.)

In the latest addition to the still-expanding timeline of Russia’s possible collusion with Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, the
New York Times reports a business associate of the president once tried to orchestrate a business deal with Moscow that might have political ramifications. Specifically, the story details several emails between Felix Sater and Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen — both of whom have popped up in reports regarding Trump’s alleged ties to Russia and the mob — and their discussions about a new Trump Tower location and the involvement of Vladimir Putin.
The emails obtained by the Times suggest Sater believed he had strong ties to Putin’s government, and he thought he could use this relationship to secure real estate in Moscow. “Our boy can become president of the USA and we can engineer it,” he emailed Cohen. “I will get all of [Putin’s] team to buy in on this, I will manage this process.” The end goal? Per Sater’s emails, the businessman thought he could score Trump significant political points in the United States. “I will get Putin on this program and we will get Donald elected ,” he boasted.
The emails date from the earliest days of Trump’s presidential campaign, when — as the
Times adds — “his associates viewed close ties with Moscow as a political advantage.” Like George Papadopoulos, the youngest member of the campaign’s foreign policy team, who tried repeatedly to set up a meeting between his candidate and Putin in early 2016. As Cohen told the Times in a statement, however, Sater’s emails were simply “colorful language” and “salesmanship.” What’s more, the lawyer concludes, they “ultimately determined that the proposal was not feasible and never agreed to make a trip to Russia.”
Aside from Cohen’s statement, the Trump Organization on Monday declared, “To be clear, the Trump Organization has never had any real estate holdings or interests in Russia.” Sater evidently didn’t offer the Times or anyone else a comment on the matter. On Monday, the Trump Org also turned over several emails to the House Intelligence Committee for its ongoing Russia probe. Some of these emails were those detailed by the Times .

Up to one-quarter of preterm births might be prevented if women paid attention to three risk factors that are under their control, new research suggests.
Those factors include spacing pregnancies well, beginning at a healthy weight and gaining the recommended amount during the pregnancy, the researchers found.
“These are all risk factors for a really serious health outcome — preterm birth,” said study co-author Dr. Emily DeFranco. She is a researcher at the Center for Prevention of Preterm Birth at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
Babies born before 37 weeks’ gestation are considered preterm. Being born early puts babies at risk for breathing, heart, gastrointestinal and developmental problems, among other issues.
In the United States, the overall rate of preterm birth is 11.4 percent — more than twice as high as that in several other developed countries, the researchers said.
Experts have identified many risk factors for preterm birth, so DeFranco’s team looked at some that are manageable to see what role they might play.
The investigators used records of nearly 400,000 births between 2006 and 2011 to examine the three risk factors. None were multiple births.
More than 90 percent of the women had at least one of the three risk factors, the study findings showed.
Only 6 percent had none, providing what researchers called an “ideal” comparison group. Their pregnancies were well spaced, their weight was healthy at the start and the mothers gained no more, or less, than recommended during pregnancy.
These “ideal” women had a preterm birth rate of 7.6 percent, according to DeFranco, who is also an associate professor of maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Women who had less than a year between pregnancies as well as those who gained too little weight during pregnancy had higher rates of preterm births, the study authors said.
The highest rate of preterm births — at 25 percent, more than triple that of the ideal group — occurred among women who were underweight when they got pregnant, had shorter gaps between pregnancies and inadequate weight gain during pregnancy, the researchers reported.
Women who are underweight are advised to gain 28 to 40 pounds during pregnancy, while normal weight women should aim for 25 to 35 pounds, according to Institute of Medicine recommendations. Overweight women should gain 15 to 25 pounds, and those who are obese should only gain 11 to 20 pounds.
A body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered a healthy weight. BMI is an estimate of body fat based on height and weight.
“You have some control over your risk of a preterm birth,” DeFranco said, urging women to pay attention to the factors they can adjust. Other risks are not changeable. For instance, black women are more likely to have preterm births, as are women who have had a previous one and those who conceive through in vitro fertilization, the researchers said.
Dr. David Mendez, a neonatologist at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, reviewed the study. He pointed out that the findings build on some things that doctors have suspected.
“It does appear to show that the uterus needs some recovery time, and the mom needs to be at a healthy weight to have the best outcome,” he said. Paying attention to the recommended weight gain is also important, he added.
For women who are trying to conceive, Mendez said, the message seems to be to try to get to a healthy weight ahead of time.

Immigration authorities will require an in-person interview for certain applicants for green cards, a change likely to slow the process of obtaining one.
The new requirement, which was confirmed Friday by a spokesman for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, will apply to anyone moving from an employment-based visa to lawful permanent residency. Visa holders who are family members of refugees or people who receive asylum will also be required to undergo an in-person interview when they apply for provisional status, a stage that precedes receiving a green card, according to USCIS.
In fiscal year 2015, nearly 168,000 immigrants in these categories obtained lawful permanent residency, according to annual statistics from the Department of Homeland Security. Most (roughly 122,000) moved from an employment-based visa to a green card.
The interview mandate is part of President Donald Trump’s plan to apply “extreme vetting” to immigrants and visitors to the U.S.
The travel ban executive order signed by the president in January and revised in March called for federal departments to develop “uniform screening and vetting standards” to identify terrorists or people who “present a risk of causing harm.” The standards could include an in-person interview, the order stated.
Carter Langston, a spokesperson for USCIS, told POLITICO that the categories of visas that require interviews will expand in the future, calling it “an incremental expansion.” The policy, Langston said, is “part of a comprehensive strategy to further improve the detection and prevention of fraud and security risks to the United States.”
The requirement for an in-person interview is not, technically, new. But the agency currently waives the interview requirement for these visa holders “most of the time,” according to William Stock, a Philadelphia-based attorney and former president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Under the new policy, such waivers won’t be granted.
Stock said requiring more interviews would take the agency “back to the future.” Until about 10 years ago, in-person interviews for people moving from employment visas to green cards were standard. Waivers became ubiquitous during the past decade, he said.
“The immigration service realised that most of the time it was a colossal waste of everyone’s time,” he said.
An email sent to some USCIS staffers from acting Director James McCament said the new policy will take effect Oct. 1.
The added interview workload will almost certainly lengthen wait times from green card applications. As of June 30, the office was processing applications received more than six months earlier, according to a tracking tool on the agency’s website.
Stephen Legomsky, USCIS chief counsel from 2011 to 2013, said it’s difficult to say whether the interviews will be worth the effort.
“It probably does add some marginal value,” he said, “but whether that value is enough to offset that additional work is hard to say.”
Langston said the agency plans to take measures to speed up the interview process, including increased training and streamlining operations.
The agency did not provide details about where the interviews would take place.
