The Supreme Court in Abuja upholds Yahaya Bello’s election as Kogi State Governor.

Headed by Justice Sylvester Ngwata, the seven-man panel upheld Bello’s victory at the November 21st 2015 election and the re-run held on December 5th 2015.

In a unanimous decision the court said the petitions against Bello lacks merit. This ruling also upholds the Court of Appeal’s ruling on the case in August.

Former Governor of the state, Idris Wada, former deputy governorship candidate of APC during the election, James Faleke, the Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress all appealed against Yahaya Bello.

The Supreme Court will give the reasons behind the decision on the 30th of September.
